there are 2 tickets you could receive, one is "failure to display N Sign" (can't remember the exact wording), the other is "driving contrary to restrictions". I believe it's the second that has points.

If the PO was really a jerk, then yes, he could technically change it to the second one. If you actually think you were right, then sure, dispute it. If you want to just dispute the fine, make sure you tell the judge that. BUT, violations have minimum fines, so they might not be able to reduce it, so it's definitely worth it just to pay early and get a discount.

Speeding is 3 points, puts you on probation. Excessive is 6? points.

I'm disputing so I can get rid of my fucking N, too long. Mind you, i've never been to court yet. The ticket got thrown out before that hahahah.

Ok, actually I'm looking at the three tickets right now, here they are exactly:

ticket 1:
Fail to Display "N" sign, ACT

ticket 2:
Lane Change Over Solid Lane, ACT
Fail to Display "N", REGS

ticket 3:
Disobey Traffic Control Device, ACT

beside the description of offence(s), in the ACT/REGS column, they are all marked with MVA also.

I'm starting to think I'm gonna get fucked ;-(

I'm really wondering why don't you just put up your N sign?

Why not? It'd take 2 seconds, you should keep a spare in your glove box in case its not. 10 extra seconds to your day could save you all this hassle with tickets for not having it up.

Speeding is 3 points. If you got charged with drive contrary to restrictions under the MV Act ( 25. 15) for the N that would mean 2 more points..

Same thing happened to my friend, he got two failure to display N's, talking on cellphone, and his license got suspended for 6 months, but my cousin had one speeding and two N's and just disputed his tickets, they havent gotten back to him and its been a year, im sure you will be fine. Most of the time for me , the cop didnt show up for the failure to display "N" sign.

You are a novice driver, it is your responsibility to make sure your "N" is displayed at all times when driving.

Ya both times. i recently had a court date for my failure to display N sign (people still them off the outside, so annoying) and the cop didn't show up for it either. i heard that they never show up for the N ones cause they dont get paid for it, but for the speeding ones , they do.

If you have Traffic Court you get paid to be there and it doesn't matter what tickets you are prosecuting. You are at work and get paid to do it.

on my way back from work I got pulled over and ticket for excessive speed.
but he had placed 2 more other offenses (speed against municipal sign+fail to display "N") however he crossed them out afterwards... I clearly had my N sign displayed inside my vehicle and even the second officer that came on duty said yea its there.
It seemed to me that he just wanted to rack up his quota and stack on additional offenses...

Would I be able to dispute this upon court to prevent suspension of my license?

What exactly are you trying to dispute?

The only offense that he is fining me for is excessive speeding.
The other 2 offenses are on the ticket as well but he crossed them out

And how do you plan on contesting that?

When did this happen?

i was getting onto the georgia viaduct and went with the flow of traffic. There was another vehicle infront of me and that vehicle pulled over as well. But he let him go and fined me instead.

EDIT: this happened today at approx. 8:20am

I'm assuming that since this was an excessive speed charge he towed your car too?

I'm surprised he let the other guy go if it really was "excessive speed".

Unfortunately while "go with the flow" is usually the safest way to travel in heavy traffic it isn't a valid reason for having a ticket dropped.

You do realize that cops don't actually have "quotas" and people complaining about it just sound like uneducated whiners... right?

But like sebbery says, if you were actually speeding EXCESSIVELY, they would have towed your car. What section is the ticket written under?

The most you could dispute would be amount of the fine, but the points will still be the same. Your only hope would be that the cop doesn't show up to court, which is unlikely.

So he dropped 2 of the charges and left a speeding (excessive?) on the VT? No problem there. There are only 3 points at stake here and the MVB does not usually suspend for only 3 points...unless you have more on your record from earlier convictions. Going with the flow is not a legal defence, as others have pointed out, so if you plan to contest it you will need a better defence than that.

My license has been suspended previously and I had reinstated it recently. So my license should be clean or do they accumulate the convictions from your previous suspension as well?

My previous suspension was for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to display "N". I don't know if failure to display "N" has point deductions or not because failure to stop at stop sign should not be enough for MVB to suspend my license since it is only a 3 point deduction?

It looks like the car was impounded, even without a conviction.

My guess is when the charge does actually become a conviction he will lose his licence based on his recent suspension.
