shoulder check + DONT SPEED + shoulder check + 360 degree checks

They also ask you to do that hazard perception thing where you list out potential dangers (ie: pedestrians, intersections, driveways, obscured signs by trees... hell even fallen leaves count...)

Don't speed more than 35-38kms. Kinda hard to reverse park at the end if you get your car towed.

I always wonder what speed do you go at when entering the highway during the test

at 80km? or match the speed of the other cars?

Match traffic speed and then drive at posted speed limit.

If you are UNSURE about the speed limit on the section of highway that you're going to be tested on (specifically those who are going to be tested on Highway 1, Trans Canada Highway), ASK the examiner before the test. Most likely he or she will start the exam with "do you have any questions before we start?"....this is the PRIME TIME to get any sort of confusion over and done with.

FYI, parts of HWY 1 are 70km/h while others are 80km/h.

I'm sure this has been covered numerous times, i suggest that you hire a professional driving teaching for 1 hour before your class 5, as its a great way to point out your habits over the years since your N

Just remember to drive speed limit, and not to go over in certain areas of caution ie. schools, roads before highways, etc

Another one of these threads eh? Honestly, someone should just sticky a previous thread on general knowledge of road tests. People have posted plenty of General tips.

What part of the hwy is 70km?!

I haven't done my class 5. But if you use common sense; speed, shoulder checks, signals, checking all your mirrors keeping an eye out for hazards. Highway is the most important, make sure you merge smoothly.

I think at some time, they were that low as I did some quick research as to what the limit was for when I did my test. I tried to confirm this with my examiner, but he told me it's 80km for the section I'm going to be examined on.

Even if the instructor is a jerk off, do not point it out.
Instant fail, dude.

Honestly the Class 5 road test is just to make sure ICBC knows your confident in driving.. When i got my class 5, I wouldve failed becuase I went over 50km/h like 5 times with no other problems.. But the instructor said to me because he could clearly see I was a competent driver he passed me... He also said that people are most likely to pass the L to N test more than the N to Class 5 test, cause too many people develop bad habits...

Lol, everyone has diff experiences.

I passed my N to class 5 the second time around cause I went on a rant about how fuxked up the system was and I don't want to repay another $50 to redo the test after the examiner told me If I drive like a newb he's gonna mark me like one (driving exactly 50, waiting 2 sec at stop, etc..).
Posted via RS Mobile

*edit*

To clear confusion, I mean the instructor saw I was putting up an act by going 50km etc. After my little rant I went 60, gunned it thru a yellow once (I did get a warning for that). Reason i failed my first time was cause I went 50 in a 30 keeping up with traffic (non school zone, stupid bridge in Richmond, and just yesterday I noticed they changed the limit to 50).

if people are still failing with the vast amounts of TIPS in and floating around revscene, they do not deserve to drive.
