i believe that is the velocity adjuster. It increase/deceases the speed of the paintball that gets shot out.

Oh, actually I wonder if that's where the response trigger goes.
If you buy a response trigger, the hook up is around that area. If it really concerns you, just take it into a paintball store. Posted via RS Mobile |

*ahem* A5 FTW.
Velocity is adjusted right under the "Tippmann 98 Custom" logo.
That screw is for the cyclone feed, and is linked by a hose, which is supposed to push excess gas to the cyclone system, and rotates the paddles as the gun re-cocks.

Did your 98 come with a cyclone feed?
