Where are some good places to volunteer? I want to get into volunteering, both to contribute to the community and aid my application to law school. Preferably it should be oriented toward social science/law but I don't mind general volunteering as well. Thank you so much! |
local community centers are usually always looking for volunteers. it is pretty fun volunteering there as well. 2 sites that might help you http://govolunteer.ca http://volunteer.ca check them out, you can search by category |
Any non profit that you can think of utilizes volunteers too. Pick a favorite cause, any cause. |
try this one too http://www.volunteerbc.bc.ca/ |
You could try a community policing centre. |
Try the Salvation Army food banks. I help stack the shelves with food donation. The people are really nice and you get some food so you don't starve to death during long shifts. |
Firehalls too. Super nice guys, you mostly just hang out! |
moving this to vls general forum |
http://www.options.bc.ca/program_cat....php?cat_id=15 crisis line is good too. Great place to volunteer and you will learn a lot. Posted via RS Mobile |
http://www.owlcanada.ca/ For animal wise Owl is great my g/f ended up getting hired going around teaching kids in school about birds of prey and she loves it. You end up working hands on with the birds and it will put a huge smile on your face. |
how about stupid success |

SPCA is always a good place if you don't mind dogs or cats |
If you're still in highschool go to your councilor, or go to the actual places that need help. Perhaps a retirement home, or a local vet. |
http://freegeekvancouver.org/ Super easy, flexible shifts. If not, just go to govolunteer.ca like the above posters. Also, you could try Vancouver Aquarium but from my experience, it was too far and boring as hell. Posted via RS Mobile |

I was volunteering with the Big Brothers and Big Sister of Greater Vancouver for a while, it was pretty cool |
