Oddball question - insurance

How much does it cost to insure a police car for a year?

gars 12-07-2010 02:23 PM

If it's anything like Military Vehicles, my guess is that there isn't insurance for them. I know when I drove Military Vehicles, or vehicles leased by DND, if there were any accidents, DND would have to pay out of their pocket for any damages.

But police cars have ICBC plates on them, DND cars don't.

are they icbc plates or BC plates?

sebberry 12-07-2010 02:48 PM

Where do your BC plates come from?

TheNewGirl 12-07-2010 02:55 PM

Check if they have ICBC STICKERS on them.

If DND were to rent/lease vehicles from Budget, they would have BC plates, but they still aren't covered by insurance.

RCMP cars are "registered" each year but they are not "insured". Don't know any insurance company stupid enough to risk insuring them. Many PC are damaged during their use time on road as they are driven in "risky" situations as a job requirement. If there is an "at-fault" crash the Federal Govt pays out the claim.

Do you know if that is the same for municipal police vehicles?

zulutango 12-07-2010 08:15 PM

Any Munis here answer that?
