Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

It sounds like the OP is asking if when an officer runs your licence plate, does it generate a record in the system that the plate has been checked, and if so how long does that record stand.

If it was run in the MDT or by dispatch then a record would be made. I'm not aware how long it is kept? It would depend on how the system was programmed. When you clear it from the MDT screen for a simple check then it is gone from the screen itself. You would have to re-query it to get the info back. If the check was part of an investigation then it would remain as part of that file until it is purged from the system and that can be to "eternity and beyond".

Hopefully it is purged pretty quickly. We don't need a system where every check the police make on someone is recorded.

The CPIC hits stay visible to us on (licence plates) for 3 days.

However, everything we say over the radio, everything we transmit through our MWS is logged so that mis-use can be tracked (nothing is visible after the 3 days though). We have a lot of rules to abide by in order to use CPIC and our access privileges can be stripped for mis-use (ie. personal use, running friends/neighbours/tenants etc). There is also the breach of trust issue to deal with when found to be mis-using CPIC and other police databases.

Police records/checks (occurrence reports etc) are maintained in the system and are visible for as long as that system is in place.
