| Opinion needed re: paint
My car's going in for paint tomorrow but I haven't decided on what colour to paint it yet, though I have it narrowed it down to two. The car has already gone through a full paint colour change (apart from the interior) and was painted BMW Imola Red II. Last year however, I got into a minor accident and decided to switch back to the stock front end as I had a Silvia front before and didn't want another Silvia front. I was also on a budget so the front end was left unpainted, so the front half of my car was grey while the rest of the car was red.
Simple logic dictates that because my car has already undergone a colour change, it would make most economic sense to just paint the grey areas to red. However, my friend's dad's shop is closing down soon and he offered to paint my whole car for pretty much what it would've cost to colour match and repaint the front end. I want to paint the whole car Subaru Java Black Pearl, but the kicker is that my friend's dad will only be painting the exterior. Door jambs and the inside of the door shells will be left untouched. I was planning on just tin canning those parts due to budget, lol.
So basically, the question is..
1. Repaint of red, and have the whole car in and out with matching paint?
OR
2. Paint it black at the expense of having to tin can the door jambs and other unmatched areas
Sorry for rambling lol, input is appreciated.
And just for reference:
Imola Red II
Java Black Pearl

Your poll is confusing. Black is wack? So, it's shit? The only option is red, then.
Either way, I like the red. The black looks hard to maintain!

With repainting a complete car to a new color, I chose to paint inside and outside, including taking out the inside door panels and painting inside as well. This of course, includes taking the inside rubber seals and door jams.
This way its more complete (my preference)...and the only thing I left untouched is the engine bay area. But it looked ok to me since it was a neutral color, like silver/grey.
Side note: Some ppl I know have even removed the window glass (all pieces) so can reach into those trim areas. But thats more costly and time consuming.
---
If you were thinking of spray bomb black the door jams and other smaller areas, it may look acceptable but thats your choice.
I remember spotting this White EL (exterior) but he blacked out the door jams, and it didnt look as good as a complete white paint job.
But again, this is your car and your preference.
With regards to color, both colors are nice. The black is nice and sleek, but the red will pop! Hope the results turn out nice.

The Imola Red is beautiful, and you'll have matching door jambs/engine bay. That's the way to go. Or buy the e46 M3

Well if your not driving your car till spring/summer time I say go with the Java black pearl. You could ask Steve @ OZ Designs for maybe month payments to get the rest painted I know he used to do that
I used to admire your car everytime I saw you at Langara Posted via RS Mobile |

The black is definitely a sick colour and I gotta agree with what a lot of you guys have said about the mismatched inners. It budget was not a concern then for sure it would get stripped but alas
I am a poor student and I'd rather hav mismatch inners than a mismatcheD exterior lolol. Guess I'll make my decision tmrw before I drop the car off. And I'm not a huge fan of white
S13's lol. Looks funny IMO Posted via RS Mobile |

as nice as black is (when clean), it's a very high maintenance color.
given the choices, I'd go red.

I really think that black would look nice on an S13, but due to your mismatched door jams, I think red will be your best friend

keep it red. matching paint in and out is always best. this is especially true if you're selling the car in the future.
