Cancun, Mexico - Travel Advisory tips?

I know all about the travel advisory for mexico.
We are staying at a 4.5 star resort (Riu caribe), I assume if I stay at the resort most of the time, or close to it, I shouldnt really run into any issues in regards to crime, kidnapping or the like, right?

Anybody have any extra tips or want to throw in their 2 cents about it?

The current advisory is against crossing the boarder by land from the US to Mexico and in the northern states of Mexico especially Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Sonora, and Sinaloa. So I think you're alright in Cancun so long as you follow the advisory's advice (largely to remain in the resort and similar secure areas).

Read the travel advisory status information throughaly and check it again before your trip.

if you are a drug dealer or a criminal, don't go to mexico, so easy to get killed there. There was another bc man that was shot today in mexico.

if you aren't any of the above, drink beer, buy lots of condoms, and avoid the water!

I stayed @ Riu Caribe in Cancun, it's pretty decent there. Be sure to check out the entertainment shows they have every night, booze up. If you're a night club person then roll with the entertainment team to the clubs, they drive you there and hang out for a bit but you gotta cab back. Tours are safe, ask your guide/agent.

not quite we get sunquest deals but book through our own systems. Plus we get cheaper rates and many things. One of the suppliers (great for flight times but not so cheap sometimes for flexibility).

Cancun is quite safe. plus Riu deals are pretty damn good as the resort is quite nice and very safe

Riu caribe is great. The Pizza the make fresh outside in the hut is amazing. Always go with the Hotel to the clubs.

10 people wont get u extra benifits etc. its not classified as a group . Bottle service is generally for 20 people or more (10 rooms) but some hotels do it differently. If ur in the pool bar u can get drunk pretty easily haha
