Bon Voyage RS! (some questions as well..)

I'm leaving tomorrow at noon for a 40 day backpacking trip through northern India (delhi, mumbai, agra,...)!!! then 4 days in singapore/malaysia!!!

Just a couple questions I have though:

1) Can i take a couple closed packs of canadian cigarettes in my luggage?

2) Will I be able to smoke in singapore/malaysia?
I know they have strict policies on cleanliness however can i smoke then toss the butt in a trash, or is smoking just not allowed?

I plan on having a blast, I will try to post some pics and updates as I am able to. I'm not sure about the wifi coverage in india but ill try to find some net cafe's and stuff.

Oh and another thing... Will my iPhone bought from TELUS work in india if i popped in another sim?

Smoking is not allowed in public buses, taxis, lifts, theatres, cinemas, government offices, and in air-conditioned restaurants and shopping centres. First-time offenders face a maximum fine of S$1,000. Smoking is allowed in air-conditioned pubs, discos, karaoke bars and nightspots.
Littering your smoking butt though will cost you between $1000 and $2000 (for repeat offenders). Please also remember chewing gum is banned at all times.

Having ciggies in your checked luggage is fine.

Have fun on your trip. The Taj Mahal is truly an amazing sight. Check out Jaipur and Jodhpur in India if you can as well.

I did Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi in October. Taj Mahal was truly amazing. We did it the night of a full moon. If you can schedule to see it around the time, it will be well worth the effort. 'Akhar the Great' castle is not far from there, make sure to check that out as well. I didnt think Jaipur or Jodhpur were anything special - they've got a few old forts but again, nothing special. Enjoy the trip and be careful. The beggers there will hound you everywhere you go.

I am unsure about Telus but I took my unlocked Rogers iPhone. There were some area's where I didnt have data coverage but on the most part it was okay. If you are using a smart phone, the data packages are 100Rupees for 1gig which is equivalent to $2CAN. They are still on the 2G network but its good enough for basic usage and email.

They have a pay as you go system but only Indian residents can get a sim. I might still have a registered sim if you need.
