Unfortunately I've been too lazy to setup direct deposit, so I'll have to wait for it in the mail.

Does anyone know what factors affect your HST credit that you receive every 3 months? Mine dropped from 146 to about 100, anyone know why?

Without knowing the details, since I'm not eligible for the credit:

- you made more money, reducing the amount of HST credit.
- if you indeed receive cheques quarterly, the government may distribute cheques with three, with equal amounts and one with the balance
- the HST credit amount may have changed.

The HST credit/rebate helps offset the tax burden for individuals with low income. if your income increased your hst rebate will decrease .

what do they consider low income do you know? I made over $30000 last tax season and got I think like $90 something and this year I made even more and my HST is apparently going to be 190. I got a 195 refund, not much but at least I'm not owing and this is extra money I would've spent if I had it and now I can throw it towards Riveria Maya

I went heavy on RRSP's as I didn't pay a penny on tax for my second job... I hope I just don't have to pay anything!

Why doesn't it seem right? If you don't have any deductions then you're paying just the right amount of tax.

As several people have mentioned already, getting money back isn't necessarily a good thing - it just meant you overpaid the government. Having to neither pay or get a refund is probably where you want to be. You get the most money in your pocket with every paycheck and you also don't have to pay come April.

With that said, I'm getting back $7600 this year. Most likely because I put in close to 20k into RRSP's this year. I'm going to have to look into taylor192's suggestion on the T1213. I'd prefer money in my pocket on payday rather than a lump sum in April.

I didn't make an RRSP contribution this year and I'm going to be paying for it big time (at least according to UFile.)
