Buying totaled car for parts, what do I need to know?r

I'm seriously considering buying a totaled car with the intention of parting it out for a profit. I have no intention of attempting to make the car drivable and insuring it, the motor would be going in my car and the remaining parts would be sold or scrapped.

How should I proceed with this:
Do I need to have the title transfered to my name or is a straight cash transaction fine?
Should I check for leans in the way I normally would buying a road worthy car?
Is there anything else that I should know?

1) Only buy cars that are top of the line. (m3 rather than 318i)
2) Must be low milage
3) Buy cars with rear end damage
4) do not waste your time or money transferring it to your name but do have the signed title. (registration)
5) sell all parts 25% below cost (remember you are not a repair shop that offers warrenties)

Could I mod edit the title, I accidentally added an r..

I have the car in mind already and I know there is a market for certain parts, although not all and the amount I plan on offering for the car will reflect that. My major concern is not having the owners debt following me..

Always check for lien.

- Buying from ICBC usually lien free, but owner still liable for any outstanding lien in other province/states.
- Always have the registration transferred to your name or business

Wreck car only worth for 50-75% of market value of the engine and tranny. No more.

A lien or prior owners debt with only follow you in the event you attempt to register it.
But be diligent and make sure it is not reported stolen by any debtors.
