Buying Honda's with 'known' transmission problems

Honda is notorious for CRAPPY auto tranny's. Their Prelude and 2003 V6 on Accords and Odyssey to be more specific.

Would u stay way clear of these cars with known tranny problems? How about buying the car at a reduced priced and budgeting for a rebuilt? (which doesn't guarantee the problem wont come back)

Reason I ask is because my cousin is offering to sell his V6 Accord EX-L for a good price.

There was a recall for the 2003 Accord tranny. They might of corrected it after I believe.
