Pop Ads

We have the opportunity to add advertising which would pop a window UNDER the main browser, ONE time per day.

How do you guys feel about this? Would you be OK with it? Or is even one ad per day too intrusive?

hchang 05-12-2011 06:24 PM

Personally, I think it'll be a little intrusive.

But if by having that one ad will generate a reasonable amount of revenue for Revscene to keep it free, I'm sure the majority of us wouldn't mind an extra ad, especially if it's actually just ONCE a day.

k3mps 05-12-2011 06:29 PM

just once a day?
personally i don't care. takes a second to close the ad.

If it keeps Revscene in business and pays for !SG's golden toilet I'm all for it.

TOS'd 05-12-2011 06:34 PM

No to pop up ads, please.

Like that time i minimized my window when someone came into my room, only to expose a live cam site pop up ad i didnt know was open. :troll: :alone:

PiuYi 05-12-2011 06:34 PM

hamsters been running pretty well lately, is there any reason we need the extra revenue?

Hondaracer 05-12-2011 06:36 PM

As long as it doesn't have noise/video as a part of it

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2011 06:39 PM

There wouldn't be sounds, and there wouldn't be adult ads.

EmperorIS 05-12-2011 06:45 PM

will the ad upgrade the food at the meets from hotdogs to hamburgers?

if so, yes

Gilgamesh 05-12-2011 06:53 PM

It should be fine only if the ad does not contain sound.

Culverin 05-12-2011 07:13 PM

I get text ads like google and whatever is in the awesome bar.
I browse with multiple revscene threads using multiple tabs.

I've got tons of screen real-estate (24" monitor).
I'd rather give up some forum browsing space (let's say both a strip on the right and left) rather than have to deal with pop-ups or unders.

I never really considered this, but I use Ad-block plus, how does that choice affect the RS income?

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2011 07:14 PM

It would be great if everyone disabled adblock for this site :)

flagella 05-12-2011 07:16 PM

No

Slifer 05-12-2011 08:28 PM

Set up a poll.. majority wins
I don't mind it if its only once per day.

CorneringArtist 05-12-2011 08:39 PM

I don't mind once a day either if it helps alleviate server costs. +1 on the no sound ads as well, those ones are really annoying.

Bonka 05-12-2011 08:40 PM

Go for it.

Mining 05-12-2011 08:44 PM

I always have adblock on and if it blocks it, then I'm fine with it, but if not.... NO PLEASE NO but guess ill have to live with it

Lowered_Klass 05-12-2011 08:46 PM

If it keeps the site free, I'm ok with it...

...but then I'd also be willing to pay if it meant getting rid of ALL the ads

AlphaKappa 05-12-2011 08:48 PM

as long as it doesn't have sound and it's not porn, and once a day then it's aight

cliffhanger33 05-12-2011 08:51 PM

I'm pretty happy with the cleanliness of rev atm, but if it's gna keep Rev running, I'm totally down =)

drunkrussian 05-12-2011 09:10 PM

adblocker plus. couldnt care less

vafanculo 05-12-2011 09:20 PM

why even ask? if people get bothered to a once per day ad in order to help their free online addiction generate some revenue, they don't deserve anything.

noTirl 05-12-2011 09:22 PM

meh if its just one a day why not

insomniac 05-12-2011 09:26 PM

definitely not against it.
for the daily hilarity RS ensures me, having pop up ads isnt a big price to pay!
