Soba Noodles

I'm quite unsatisfied with the zaru soba available in the city so I'd like to just make cold soba at home.

Any brand recommendations or where to buy? I don't care if it's dried or fresh...as long as it's good.

T&T sells some near the instant noodle isle. They come in a square-ish package. Noodles are soft (not the dehydrated instant noodle ones).

Looks like you will have to go by trial and error.

Yep, trial and error. The good news is...it's hard to go too wrong but I haven't found one that's bang on good. I have to believe there's a decent dry version as I'm sure not all the restaurants in Japan make it fresh.

Haku Baku, get the organic one. boil it for 4 minutes (not 3 like it says on the package), and then immediately rinse it out in cold water. Make your own soba sauce by trying out soy sauce, with some maple syrup and some water. =)

No such thing as 'good' soba. It should be banned.

Haven't you ever eaten truly glorious soba noodles?

The instant stuff isn't as good but oh god, the real thing is about as good as it gets.

No, I'm not joking. I can't stand soba, somen, pho and many other types of noodle dishes. Why do I have to elaborate? It's just a matter of personal taste isn't it? No need to get your panties in a knot.

You're the one who said it should be banned. Banned because of your personal preferences? Whose panties are tied?

Bad experience w/ noodles, scarred Senna for life. Please, don't bother him, he's still recovering.

Well to be honest, it's a bit douchey to come into a thread asking where to buy something just so you can proclaim how much you hate it. Like who the fuck cares? He did the same thing in the babe thread. Nobody cares if you like tattoos or not, so why expose yourself as a judgemental douche?

There you go
