Hey guys, im going to San Fran this late july.. Wondering if there is anything specific I should hit up? Ex. attractions, food, malls, etc.
Gonna go with just my gf, so budge will be a bit tight.. planning on getting the City Pass which seems like a sweet deal..
Muni & Cable Car 7-Day Passport
California Academy of Sciences
Blue & Gold Fleet Bay Cruise
Aquarium of the Bay
San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)
de Young Museum
OR
Exploratorium
All that for $69 a person..

I just came back from a 2 week trip in California. Spent 5 days in San Francisco, which was about the right amount of time. The food there was amazing; then again, we had a relative show us around so we got to try out both the hot spots and local gems. My favourites:
Sam Tung - 1031 Irving Street - I ate there twice during the trip. This place is packed all the time. Apparently the wait time can be as long as 2 hours. They're famous for their chicken wings (I guess San Fran's version of Phnom Penh?). Dry style is more popular I think but it's still quite saucey (see photo). They kind of taste like honey garlic chicken. I'd see tables where people would order their own separate plate of chicken wings. They're awesome. 
Chairman Bao - this is a food truck so they go all over the place. You can get their schedule here http://www.facebook.com/ChairmanBao?sk=app_6009294086. They're famous for their Tender Pork Belly with Daikon bun. Get it baked!!! 
Burma Superstar - I've never had Burmese food so this was something cool to try. They're famous for their Tea Leaf Salad, where you get a plate of greens, peanuts, roasted garlic, tomatoes, sunflower seeds and fermented tea leaves on a plate and the server mixes it for you. It was unlike anything I've had in Vancouver. (blurry picture but you get the gist) 
Roli Roti's Porchetta Sandwich - It's another food truck and they have their schedule here http://roliroti.com/markets/intro - We went on Thursday at the Ferry Plaza but they are also there on Saturdays. We lined up for almost 45 minutes for it but it was worth it. Definitely a must-try.  
Other decent places
Sushi Bistro (several locations)
Shanghai Dumpling King (3319 Balboa Street) - hole-in-the-wall but popular with the locals
Bi-Rite Creamery (3692 18th Street) - popular joint for ice cream.. their Roasted Coconut is good

If your tour doesn't include Alcatraz, book the tickets 3-4 weeks in advance especially right now in peak season.

Thanks! | The cuts are good sized, pretty big. I always get the largest cut because it's the best cut of meat they give you. I don't know the exact size unfortunately.
The salad is quite good, and you can choose a potato (mashed or baked) and it comes with yorkshire pudding (some flat bread thing)
Largest cut is about $35ish dollars and with a drink and everything, you should be out the door for about $50 per person or so, maybe less.
There was a good seafood place at San Fran wharf where I took my GF, but unfortunately I don't remember the name of the place..... I searched a bit online, but I can't find it. I know it wasn't Joe's Crab Shack though. If I remember, I'll post more here. They had a really good garlic crab, and the butter prawns were excellent.

There is this place in fisher wharf that was in the food network..
Pier 23 Cafe (Fish taco or Dungeness crab) from driver dine in drive or w/e lol

Mmm amazing! I loved SF for their food scene. Honestly, I think we are extremely lucky to be living in Vancouver and having such good food just about everywhere. SF has just as many good restaurants if not more! So any foodies should definitely try out some of these recommendations above.
I went to Burma Superstar (great, great food. Never had Burmese food before so this was new but really tasty) and House of Prime Rib... the King Henry cut is killer. I felt like I could roll out of the restaurant if someone pushed me after it was over. Great prime rib here. There are a couple of places just outside SF in San Mateo as well | |

Rented for about 14 days and paid about $6xx.xx
But it doesnt include the insurance/waiver/collision etc... the clerk usually just explains theres 2 packages available and you decide if you need them, like if the car gets wrecked then its fully covered OR if theft happens, if you are insured or not. Good service reps, you can book online and pay a lower price instead of later price at SFO. Unlimited miles, of course, just pay for gas. Most of the cars are quite new, within 3-4 years new, and we chose the higher trim level minivan for the same price as the lower trim. Had the stow-n-go and auto function everything LOL... They usually have a good selection for you to choose from.
Transits pretty good there but if you want to venture out or stay out later than you gotta rent a car. Check out fishermans wharf in SF, parking isnt too expensive, there's a parking tower closeby thats $7/day and parking meters arent as expensive as our DT costs.

^^^ at the far end of fishermans wharf, theres a small restaurant with seats outside surrounding in a circle, that serves good chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.
So yummy!! Think it was $7-8.

Heading down to SF next week again... Have all my accomodations ready, rent-a-car, money and destinations setup.
Gonna do some shopping at westfield, sightseeing, and check out premium outlet.

I'm wondering if there are any car rental places that exclude the 25 year old rule. I'm 23. I heard about the 20-30$ premium, but hopefully if anyone knows, please let me know!
Also, in the scenario where I cannot rent a car, what's a good location / hotel to stay in that's central for everything?
