Novice Driver in Alberta

Hello all,

I am currently looking to rent a car in Calgary, Alberta to use for work. I am over 21 without any infractions on my license but I only have my N still.

I was wondering if anybody has had any success with renting a car in Calgary or if they allow it? I know they do here in Vancouver for sure.

Thanks

They will not rent it to you. To them, youre still a class 7, as it says on the license itself.

thats wrong...

I was in alberta last november, with an N license, rented a car without much issue.

I asked them about it when i was at the counter, they said it was fine, but did put a special note on my rental agreement that i had to have the N on the rental car at all times. Which was fine, since I had brought it along anyways as to not break my license restrictions. I actually made a post in this forum asking the same question before i went.

edit: I hope it's a work trip though, the additional daily fee for being under 25 made my bill something like $600+ for 4 days.

^^ Wtf? What company did you go with? When I went to Ontario and rented a car being under 25 I paid an extra 15 a day with enterprise. Could be different rates but 600 for 4 days is ridiculous !
