Protect a car that wasn't theirs? Sheer stupidity. Don't get me wrong i don't approve of that bullshit one bit!! BUt i don't see the point of trying to protect a stupid peice of metal.

Another thing, if everyone thinks like you do then the riots could have been much worse. Imagine if everyone was thinking "Oh, I shouldn't get involved its none of my business that the city is burning". Its thinking like that that leads to bystander syndrome.
True most people will just stand by and watch but those that actually tried to help out are heroes and we shouldn't berate them for that however stupid it may seem to the less brave of us.

As mentioned before, those two girls defending the car didn't get beat down because they're girls, if it was 2 guys, for sure they would've had their asses handed to them by a mob.
Did anyone see that brown dude that punched this girl in the face? She was atleast 5'10" 140lbs. Anyways she stepped up and wanted to fight him then a swarm of guys jumped the guy and beat him up. Later on in the night i saw the same girl trying to pick a fight with another dude but everyone told him it wasnt worth it. Then i heard from some other people that girl was tryin to pick fights all night.
i don't know if it's the same brown guy, but my friend told me he witnessed a brown guy punch out a white girl for no reason, she was down for 20-30 minutes

as stated previously, the convicted should be held accountable financially. i don't think a jail sentence is a feasible way of dealing with it. and as you said, jail likely won't see most of these hooligans. hell, you couldn't get a jail sentence if you tried in this province.
i think fining them is as close to reparations as we'll see.
besides, for the most part, the correctional system does not do what its name insists it to. but that's a whole other thread
Which was exactly what I posted and StylinRed failed.
Once convicted, I wouldn't be surprised if the City sends them or their parents a bill for some of the damage to the city/police vehicles. I can even see ICBC sending some of them a bill for the torched cars. But that is nowhere near what people are asking for in terms of making an example out of the guilty people.

well, ye. obviously the car was already a write off by then. i'm sure they understood that. but any resistance in that situation helps. if people see that others aren't just allowing it to happen, it makes them think twice.

add in the fact that there were people who had no problem hitting women, then you realize how stupid you are to risk your life for a piece of property.
at the end of the day, big dudes were getting punked by crowds. it only takes 1 crazy bitch to hit 1 of these girls and they get lost in a crowd of punches, kicks and hairpulling.
I really doubt that these people could pay for any of the damages. I think it is more realistic that they are forced to do some sort of extensive community service.

So, the kid getting tackled is a year younger than me and attends the highschool near me. Currently in Grade 12. He was identified and arrested on the last day, expelled from school and won't be graduating. Has an upcoming court date. Name is Arian A.
The saddest thing that fucks with me about the chicks protecting the car especially, is the huge mob of onlookers standing around with their dicks in their hand. And usually a camera or phone in the other. If a few more people get involved like those chicks, the fucks intent on causing problems could have been outnumbered. The riot was honestly ONLY possible due to this.
I also have a younger sister, if she were one of them I would have been proud of her.
CTV is right. The fires he set were put out so we are all assholes for shaming him.

i don't think anybody really gives a shit that he didn't actually set the fire. he attempted to and that's more than enough for me. and no, we aren't assholes for shaming him
