I would say MR even before I watch the video. Even Porsche makes their hypercar in MR configuration (911 GT1, Carrera GT, 918 Spyder)

I thought most people already knew the Cayman would be a much better handling car if Porsche hadn't handicap the potential due to the 911 being a higher model in the lineup.

Nearly all supercars are MR, thus I'd imagine it must be best. Though the Corvette ZR1 shows how a front engine car can really perform against the best.

The Corvette's engine is behind the front wheels, it's MR. There are a number of cars that are what's called front mid engine ranging from the RX7 and the Toyota Previa.

Nah, Corvette's not MR. It just has better weight distribution and isn't as nose heavy.

I think Porsche spent a lot more money developing the 911 than the Boxster...

Just think how good the boxster would have been if they had spent the same amount of money. If rear engine was so good, why did they build the Carerra GT mid engine?

It's a pretty well known fact that the corvette is front-mid engine layout and some ferraris too. The engine is placed even further back on the C6R racecar

Having driven RR quite a bit, I can say that braking in the RR layout is phenomenal, and one of the reasons why the 911 is one of the most popular track day cars, the endurance of the braking means it will literally run laps around M3's, GTR's, and other much heavier and front heavy cars, Based on what I've seen on the track at least, corvettes are very good track cars as well though again with the massive brakes and light front. The front end lift is a definite problem with the 911's because of the sheer power and mass, which is why the slow in fast out approach is so important

also acceleration from a standstill with all that weight on the rear wheels is awesome

The only reason the 911 is rear engine is because of it's Beetle heritage. It started off as rear engine and they stuck to their guns. If you improve on something long enough, it'll eventually work. Over the decades, fatter tires were put on, improved suspension and more recently, stability control. Same thing with the Corvette, it started out using leaf springs and to this day still uses leaf springs. It's one of the best handling cars you can buy for under $100k

Don't forget the magnetic engine mounts on newer 911s and magnetic shocks on the 'Vettes!

But the same can be said of a rear mid-engine car. "If it's in the back it's in the back." It's not right in the middle, it's merely in front of the rear axle.

It's engine placement in relation to the wheels, not in relation to the driver. If it's between the wheels, it's mid engine regardless of whether it's in front of or behind the driver.
