W+H are made by the same factory as CP's. You'll notice the sole is exactly the same. I've also confirmed this with the folks over at Roden. Blanc and Noir was also made there before they discontinued.

and did you cross shop with any other longwings?
I was also looking into a couple of Mark McNairy longwings. I think they are made by the same manufacturer.

Hey I still wear my shox to work... although I got at the discount rack in the states for $50 a few years ago. It still fits pretty good but nike free feel so much better, the only drawbacks is that rocks get stuck on them from time to time.

Looking to buy a new pair of runners mainly for jogging and badmintion. Don't really feel like spending $100 + just for a pair of badmintion so I want to get something comfy and the buttom have to be white (badmintion courts only allow badmintion shoes or shoes' buttom that's white).

Hondaracer, I'd give into the temptation. They'll last a decade.

I bought two pairs of Daytons, casual boots and work boots, and they've effectively replaced my Red Wings pairs. My Red Wings are great, no doubt. But, I love the Daytons. That they're an old-school Vancouver brand only adds to the appeal.

Although they are tough to find, totally not worth that much money quality wise

oh i wouldnt doubt it, honestly my RW 877's are nice but i really havent felt like they are ultra comfortable at all since i got them. I've tried numerous insoles and none seem to work and the best seems to just be no-insole with the hard bottom

when i tried on the dayton service boots it was almost instant like "yeap.. ultra comfort right here" you could feel how the inner leather kind of cups your foot that they would break in insanely nice.. hmm maybe a xmas present to myself later on lol

I bought the W+H x Dayton boots when they came out a couple of years back but at the time it was the most I'd ever spent on a piece of footwear ($700ish after tax) so I sold them. Regretted it ever since.

That said, I'll probably commission Dayton to make me a pair soon. Are there any other boots by other makers that are similar?

They still have their normal service boot imho it looks different and.. just doesn't quite do it. I couldn't find something that looked similar to the DxW+H so I settled for a pair of wolverine 1k m's. It's good quality but those dayton x w+h still make me drool

Some pics of the black/charcoal colour :

Ignoring the color, they are pretty similar. IIRC, all W+H did was bend them and tie them up in that position so they maintained that upturned look. But I know what you mean - they still aren't the originals.

What kind of casual boots would be good for winter wear?
Need a new pair of boots for cold weather (light snow too).
And want something other than my current Timberlands
Don't mind spending upto 700-800 for a good pair of boots

not much of a boot guy but i've always thought hard graft made some good looking boots none in my size though :/ (seems like they only make US 9-11 for all their shoes)

Men's High Boot. Handmade in Italy from über premium vegetable tanned leather. | hard graft

Fall is approaching quickly, and I'm looking in buying a couple pair of boots for the season.

Can anyone give me a list of brands that sell? Preferably brands that sell for no more than $250.

Thanks!!

All great, but aren't most of those will be over $250? But to the OP, I would up that budget and just get some quality that will last you awhile.

I was thinking of getting the 1000 mile too for fall and winter. How does it fit? Black or brown?

I mentioned the < $250 part because I forgot to say that it's more for style rather than practicality. Ones that are slim and look great in slim-fitted jeans.

I have already looked into a pair of Red Wings for the quality, so I am currently looking for something relatively inexpensive and good looking.

Great deal! Any word on fit? How would they compare to say...Clarks DB? I've been looking at these because they're fairly plain and waterproofed, for dat Vancouver life.
