FC Not Running

Hey guys, I have a 1990 RX-7 GTU, and it's having troubles starting/running.

We've changed the fuel pump and fuel filter, after deducing that it may have been those, I've heard that ether is bad for rotaries, AFTER spraying a lot of ether into it, although it doesn't seem to have been effected, as it will start and run, but without the MAF sensor, and to do this, we have to completely starve it for air, then hold the MAF in just a little to keep it running, but we only tried that for a short period, as it was a horrible amount of gas and monoxide. We had found some faulty wiring for the spark plugs, and fixed it, same for the fuel pump, although the fuel pump had to be jumped to work. I have had a few people look at this car, 4 mechanics, and it seems like it most likely is the MAF sensor. Any help on the subject?

if you have to jump the fuel pump to work you have issues somewhere from the main relay upwards. Go check that. Also your ECU does not sound like it is working when you got the car to run it probably ran on the cold start injectors. But of course you can't sustain a run with that.

Oh and, errr, wrong section dude.

After owning 7 FC's..one thing I always do before diving into trying to figure out why a car isn't running is a simple compression test. It doesn't take very long and is usually a good thing to get out of the way right off the bat lol.

One of the biggest things too is vacuum leaks.. will run exactly as described with a vacuum leak.

If it's neither of those, I would definitely try a spare ECU like HK20000 said.

sometimes it's not even a broken ECU could be just a broken main relay or something silly like that

I'm almost positive I know what the problem is...If you go to the back of the car. Go down on one knee. Take a look (if I remember correctly) on the left hand side right above the tail light. There "should" be an emblem there..... THAT is your problem.

Spoiler!

Berz out.

Best advice when it comes down to rotaries is,spend the money and take it to a shop that knows what they are doing with them.

I think the first 4 mechanics did. Maybe he needs to add a bottle of NOS to his gasoline.

NEVER USE ETHER ON A ROTARY. Ether is prone to detonation and detonation on a rotary is almost sure death. Have you checked or changed your plugs?

Have you checked all the electrical. Although it sounds as if you have a blown rotor.
