| 1.5 Ton Racing Jack Sale
Spotted this in a car mag today. Anyone have or use this jack? Seems like a great deal at Harbor Freight Tools. I need something basic and compact to use for small jobs.  |

Looks like the one they sell at princess auto (for about $100 when on sale). It's a good basic jack

The Power Fist one at Princess Auto is lower.
Works way better with lowered cars.

I know a few guys who uses this jack. Most of them use them at autox and track days since it's pretty light and the price is good.

i have one to take to the track. as said above. light, cheap, works ok, cheap. i never touch it when at home. at home i use good stuff.

I was there when they just opened. Head East on the E. Sunset Dr. exit and it's on the left, in a strip mall.

This same exact jack is made in china for a bunch of different brands: PowerFirst, Michelin, HarborFreight, MotoMaster, etc etc.
I've been using mine for nearly 10 years CONSTANTLY (like raising and lowering my car many times a month to swap tires for autocross, DE, repairs, etc) and it definitely has a set lifespan before parts start failing.. most common failure are the pins that connect the U-joint to the jack handle, but also the hex-head bolts come loose and the frame gets crooked.. you have to treat it with care and look after it, and it will last you a long time. Some of them start to leak at the shock, which can lead to a failure.. but mine hasn't done that yet and I've used it more than anyone else I know.
I just bought a second one for $99 at cdn tire.. I rarely see them go below $150.
There are a few variations depending on when they were built.. some are slightly better than others but essentially they are all made by the same company for different brands. It is cheaply made, but it's better than anything else out there for the price.

CT will have a 50% off sale a couple times a year, so keep an eye for it.
Its great for my car and I'm lowered 1.5", I can get it under the sides very easily. It didn't work well for my GF's Volvo XC70 cause the ride height is much higher than most cars. I could get a single tire in the air, yet not an entire side/front/rear.

I bought this bag, the jack and 2 jack stands fit perfectly inside it! Super sturdy and easy to carry around with some pockets for other tools.

The pin was fine, but the U-joint itself broke, so the pin wouldn't stay in the joint. On a side note, does anyone know where to get these parts replaced?
