Mounting my 55" LCD on the wall - placement questions

just wanted to get some thoughts... looking to eliminate my TV stand and then mount my TV on the wall... the stand contains my PS3 and my Shaw HD box both will be put on a new 2-shelf mount next to the TV. I also have a soundbar that I will mount underneath the TV. ..

in terms of placement, my idea of where the TV is gonna go.. do you think that will be a good viewing angle for the mofos sitting on the 2-cushion couch?

**there is no room on top of the mantle in this case.

current setup:

Where is the window in this room?
The light from the window could cause glare therefore not allowing the people on the two seater couch to see the TV.
Why not mount it in the corner where it is originally, and place the shelf underneath?

I agree - the mounting of the tv might make the room look cleaner, but it's not really in an optimal position, and since it seems you have a decent sized room, you're not really lacking in space either.

Doesn't look like the viewing angle will favor the people on the smaller couch.

You might consider having the TV to the north on a mount so the angle is similar to now. Just don't get a flush wall mount but something with articulation. You'll still be able to ditch the stand and use the media rack.

How often are there going to be people on the 2 seater? If not often then I think the proposed is a good idea.

I think they make brackets that swivel the tv so you swing the tv a bit in the proposed setting so the people in the loveseat won't suffer as much.

if one mofo is lying on the couch with his feet pointed towards the TV, he'll be fine.

i say forget the two mofo's. they can get down to the tv area earlier, and get a seat on the 3 seater.

are you one of the mofo's who uses the 2 seater?

Just get an articulating mount....So if you do have people on the couch you can always swing it over. I personally think wall mounted TV's look the best as long as all you're wiring can be concealed cleanly.

thanks for the input guys..yah this is the 'family' room of the house and it is fairly large. i'll probably relocate the shelving underneath the TV so the wires can flow down the rear of the shelf. the main issue of having the TV on the stand is because my 3yr old sometimes has a fit and decides to take it out on the TV lol. ...and no, i wont be the mofo sitting on the 2seater haha.
