Post-processing help!

Hi photographers!

I took this picture over the weekend at the Pike Place Market in Seattle. The photo is great except that I sorta shot into the sun and I guess the metering did something funky. Anyways. I've gotten this far, but I'm not able to remove all the grayish... stuff. Can anyone help me out? and better yet, explain the steps? I know a hood lens would have helped which is why you see my hand in the top left. I've attached the link for the raw below. much thanks!

I'm not a pro, I was bored so i decided to fiddle with it. Don't know how to fix lens flare.

i darkened the image, then dodged everything below the row of lights. the original image is damn sharp, very nice.
