Hey mr. snow guru! (aka vangruver ) Got any reccomended places to get boards waxed? I have 4 to wax , and 1 small repair on my libtech. Also do you wax your own or take them somewhere? I'm considering picking up wax/iron/scrapers/cleaner etc. , because with all those boards the money savings should add up

you want a good job?

or do you want a machine job?

most places when they say they do a hot wax, it's with a machine that has a heated roller that just applies semi warm wax to your board. I know that the boardroom, and sport check? sport mart does hot wax, but i'm not sure if every tech there will provide a quality that you'd appreciate, as if you'd do it yourself. So it's good to ask the tech staff at any shop you take your board to, how long they've been working on gear for, and what their method is.

There is a thread that I started [look at my started threads] about how to hot wax your snowboard/skis. dig it up and read it, bump it up if you want to as well. It's a worthwhile read.

the absolute BEST place to get a hot wax done is at Vancouver Ski and Board services.

However, that being said. You can invest aprox 100+ on an iron, some plastic scrapers, a metal scraper [for base repair] some pads for polishing a base after waxing, and some ptex and go to town with your snowboards/skis

Annually, I invite about 5-10 of my snowboard crew over to my place to have a wax party. just another excuse to have people over, drink beers, bullshit about the season, and watch videos.

something to think about

i agree with you 100%
doing it yourself is the best way to learn and do a consistent job.

Barry at VSBS is the next best thing....or arguably the best thing.

Vangruver, do you work in the industry?

Just a heads up boys and girls! Grouse is officially open tomorrow, and will be the first local mountain to offer night skiing/riding. I'm going to be up there with a couple others on sunday. Are you going to be hitting it up, Vangruver?

i see what you did there

and yes, that would be me.

claim to fame being the first to win this contest. so i couldn't care less if i don't win this year.

however, having acquired a ft videographer and editor, and a ft photographer for this season's antics and acquiring sponsors to create silly stupid videos means I'll have more to show once we get more footage.

right now we've been having too much fun riding to film.

looking for new pants for boarding
i'm still a novice so i fall alot...i just need something that's 100% waterproof.

is 5K mm waterproofing enough? or should i go for 10K mm?

is it worth it to get one with the 3M Thinsulate feature?

i'm looking at oakley's 100% polyester snow pants

I was looking for night riding goggles so I went this past weekend and tried on a lot of different ones. I ended up buying an oakley crowbar for $83 after tax.
Went down to West 4th yesterday, picked up a pair of Oakley A-Frame in Pink Iridium for $75, not bad for Oakleys. The frame design wasn't my favourite, but for the price I can deal with it.

Hey guys I've been boarding for 3 seasons now and I'm finally in the market for a snowboard set.
I'm 5'6 145lbs shoe size 8.5. So, as suggested by a couple calculators, I'll need a board ~150cm high.
Not looking for anything fancy. But a good quality brand is preferable. maybe under $200 for the whole set?
Not picky on freestyle/free ride. Just want a good basic board so I can stop renting.
PM me if you or someone you know has a set for sale! Thanks
