Hemming?

I know that there is another thread for alternations, but that one is dead and its for Surrey.
Where are some good places for hemming in Vancouver, Burnaby, or Richmond and the price if you know it?
I had a bad experience with this place last time :S

we should make hemming a sticky in this forum. comes up every few months.

Santofu 09-26-2011 11:21 AM

I usually go to the one near old navy at metrotown

dignatas 09-26-2011 12:13 PM

never do it from sitch it or w/e its called and any places inside malls. Shitty job and expensive. A good one is Richmond Public market near Richmond centre on Westminster highway and between garden city and 3 road area

ive done hemming and repairs at stitch and i thought it was fine.
not cheap but i thought it was alright.

I have 3 dress pants that need hem + taper. Anyone know of a good place? I know Stitches is good, but only for jeans? Anyone know anywhere that's good for dress pants where I can also get measured up as well?

Got my Naked and Famous ones done by him too. I had my wallet hole fixed as well.
Knows quite a bit, and it was only gone for a day.

There are a lot of good ones in Surrey, you can can jeans/ect hemmed for like $12 and a very professional job.

nastynate 10-26-2011 11:46 PM

good place for hemming trues?

hx2gls 11-01-2011 05:28 PM

I think it has been recommended on RS before but Oakridge Tailors does a great job and is less than $10 for hemming. It is a block and a half west (I think) of 41st along Cambie.

Ducdesmo 11-02-2011 09:54 AM

Check out Threadz Alterations on Cambie and I think 18th..They do a wicked job and do tailoring too.

Cambie and 39th (across the St from the Liquor Store). $12 for hemming.

If you're in Richmond, go to Pak Lane Tailor Co, 1128-8700 McKim Way.
It's a small place, but the guy does a good job at a fair price. I don't remember the prices off the top of my head, I just got a suit done there.

wuuhoo 11-02-2011 03:35 PM

I have a pair of jeans that I wanna fix up.

Theres a huge rip around my kneecap area. Anyone got advices on what a tailor would do if I brought it to them? I dont wanna patch it would a piece of cloth underneath

RevYouUp 11-02-2011 03:50 PM

the guy in the back of the levi shop in metrotown is pretty good

Helga 11-02-2011 05:02 PM

metrotown left side of shoppers drug mart. got my grad suit hemmed

redpanda28 11-06-2011 01:50 AM

i got my trues hemmed on hastings and slocan. Five star coin laundry. they got it done in two days. when they did hem them they got original stitching. only 10 bucks.

jtrinh 11-06-2011 02:58 PM

Try and avoid Stitches in Metrotown. They're very inconsistent if you ask for a certain size hem and just looks sloppy. Uneven 1/4inch hem on both the jeans I left them. Asked if they could colour match the threads and they said "sure". Both pairs came out black..

Chi_Na 11-16-2011 06:17 AM

Anybody know a place with good reputation or had experience with not hemming jeans but altering tops? like blazers, long sleeves or shirts? and how much?

Thanks
