Thanks for all your tips guys.
Just picked up a new PSU & Vid card.

I'm probably looking to upgrade my Mobo/CPU next month, come Boxing day.
Any suggestions?

I mainly use my computer for some gaming (fallout, witcher etc), & web browsing.
I'm looking to budget $500-600 for the combo. Some more wiggle room can be found($700? factoring in DDR4), if Skylake is really worth it.

AMD FX-6100
Gigabyte 970A-DS3

G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3 4gb x2
Crucial M4 SSD
MSI R9 380 4gb
EVGA Supernova G2 750W

what do you guys think of this video card deal: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Directx 11 2 100362SR 4GB 512 BIT GDDR5 PCI Express 3 0 X | eBay

SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290 $249.99

Tiger direct had some killer CPU/Mobo?Ram deals. I5 CPU EVGA Moba and 8 gigs of ram for under $400. They also had a I7 Deal.

So people looking for an upgrade keep checking redflagdeals.com

Would appreciate some insight into my question

Was super tempted to spend a ton of money upgrading my system these past few days with all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.

I'm still running the tank PII 965 BE OC'd to 4GHz with a 7950. Still on Win7 no real intention to upgrade anytime soon, but I know I'll have to do it eventually. I don't feel the performance of my current setup ever being even remotely slow or insufficient for most of the things I do (aside from some newer games where I simply cannot turn everything up to the max or even high ), but I'm thinking it's probably time to upgrade to futureproof myself for what's to come?

I've been eyeing putting in a new processor for the past couple months, probably the FX-6300 or maybe the 8320. Or, I could continue with the PII 965 and just upgrade my 7950 to something a little newer. In terms of day-to-day use and some occasional gaming, which would be the more effective upgrade?

If you have an itch to scratch, go for it. Personally, I wouldn't do anything until I start noticing that my system is a bit slow with the software suites that I regularly use on a daily basis.

Personally, I never understand what "futureproof" means because when the future comes, there are already better products available that will better suit the needs of the future.

Any suggestions on the best 240/256GB SSD currently on the market? Looking to upgrade some laptops with something tough and fast, and ideally available from NCIX.

I need reliability more than anything, speed obviously matters too but from what I understand any current SSD will walk all over a standard 5400rpm HDD. Obviously I don't want the price to be too ridiculous but we're willing to toss out the money needed to get quality stuff that won't die just because it's cold or something.

Personally for reliability , i would go with intel.

But samsung ones are good too

Samsung 850 EVO Series Solid State Drive, 250GB at Memory Express

It was 10 dollars cheaper during blackfriday but this is good too.

5 year warranty.

^ You should spend another $80 or so and get a SSD for your boot drive. Well worth the money.

Samsung 850 EVO is my suggestion. It's been as low as $99.99 for a 250. The 120 is around $80.

trying to get a mini-itx gaming/photoshopping

i'd choose a better case but it has to try to 'blend in with the furniture' -_-

which is also why i chose the reference design gpu, due to the crappy design of the case it's recommended that a blower style is used

This is my last mITX build.

Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.2GHz
ASUS H97i-PLUS
16GB Kingston DDR3-1866
ASUS GTX 970 STRIX
240GB Sandisk Ultra II SSD
Phanteks Evolv ITX Case
Seasonic X-750 750W 80+ Gold PSU
Cooler Master Nepton 240M CPU Water Cooler
Rosewill Hyperborea 140MM Case Fans

I underclocked the GTX 970 and undervolted the 4790K. Even at load with Prime95, the fans were barely audible.
