2013 Nissan GT-R to get 570hp

2013 Nissan GT-R Updates To Include Bump To 570-HP?
By Nelson Ireson

Godzilla, R35, or simply the GT-R: Nissan's top sports/super car has earned a rabid fan base on the back of blistering performance thanks to its pack of high-tech and high-output technologies--a mixture that could well be growing even more potent for the 2013 model year.

Just how much more potent? At least 40 horsepower more, up to as much as 570 horsepower total output, according to a source at the NAGTROC forums dug up by Autoblog. Previous reports had hinted at an increase in power, but had pegged the figure at something more like 30 horsepower at most.

The power increase will surely reduce the GT-R's already mental acceleration times even further, but that's not all that's in the bag: according to the source, the suspension and transmission programming have been refined; there's better aerodynamic covering under the body; emissions are reduced; and a new Track Edition will be offered--but only in right-hand drive, and only outside the U.S.

Other details include a complete lack of visual or paint updates for the new model year, and an expectation that the R35 will carry on for just two more model years--meaning we'll likely see its successor, if it comes, sometime in 2015 as a 2016 model.

As for how fast the re-re-revamped GT-R will get around the infamous Nordschleife? Expect that question to be answered in mid-October.

And then the Corvette and Viper will come along and beat both of them.

if only if only, they had a 6 speed manual option
I know it won't be as fast, but it's already a member of the 2 second club, a 6mt version would still demolish it's 6mt competitors.

the problem is though...people who can afford to buy a high performance cars don't care about manual tranny...they would rather have paddle shift

I wonder what the terminal 0-60 time would be for rubber vs pavement with respect to friction co-efficient. There must be a limiting ceiling....

Well a top fuel dragster can do 0-60 between 0.5 and 0.75 seconds and that's with only 2WD so I've gotta think that a car optimized to do nothing but kill 0-60 should be able to do it in sub .5 seconds if the only limiting agent is adhesion to the ground.

2013 Nissan GT-R Gets More Carbon Fiber, More Power.
By Mike Magrath | September 29, 2011

Just a few days ago we got some lo-fi images presented as a video of the 2013 Nissan GT-R testing on the 'Ring. Now we've got hi-res spy shots of the same session.

The new car is rumored to be packing 570 horsepower and the carbon-fiber trunk and wing signify that Nissan is finally taking care of that little weight problem everyone's been mentioning since 2009. There's also a new front splitter with additional cooling ducts and side skirts.

The wheels on this car are also different front-and-rear which likely means that they're playing with new wheel sizes. Currently the GT-R sits on 20-by-9.5 inches front and 20-by-10.5 inch rear wheels running P255/40R20 and P285/35ZR20 respectively.

It may not need more power, but it will put it to good use.

More power is great, but talk to me when it gets a manual tranny...Biggest mistake from the get-go.
Having owned an R32 GT-R and being a long time Skyline fan, the paddle shifting was the only disappointment with the R35.

A true Skyline enthusiast doesn't want fuckin lame paddle shifters.

Well ya that too I suppose, but I expect that nowadays. Cars are bigger and heavier, but horsepower is much higher in general so the weight is offset.
