picture is not very clear.
But I think there is more ... I've spotted another car on another occasion

I've seen Hawaiian plates in the past as well. I'm guessing they ship their car overseas?

What I would really like to see is a car with a license plate of anywhere south of Mexico. I don't know if that's even allowed.

I also saw the weirdest plate last week. It was 2 mitsubishi SUV's identical in model color and trim with CHINA plates travelling in a convoy of some sort. They seemed lost.

I saw a couple of legit Euro Plates roaming around Vancouver, mostly German.
These were on large tourbuses or RV like vehicles.

Damn Oahu, one of the best vacations in my life.

I heard in the US people register their cars in other states to avoid paying the taxes/laws in their own. Not sure if this is the same case?

Not sure, one of my friends parents (who are ballin) bought my friend a mercedes while in Hawaii and shipped it to van. It was registered in van so it has BC plates, but the frams says "Mercedes of Hawaii" or some place in Hawaii.
I guess if she stayed there longer, she could've registered it there, then ship it here with Hawaii plates still on it until it expires?
Not sure, so someone please correct me

motorcycles are common. when i worked at swissport at yvr we shipped bikes back and forth regularly.

as for the hawaii plates... some states insurance follows the driver not the car. so you can use the same plates on multiple cars.

noob queston: So they put the car in a container and put the container on a cargo ship and ship it to vancouver? I'm assuming thats how it works? Correct me if i'm wrong.

Wouldn't that cost a lot of money? Like shipping a TSX or CIVIC or w/e -- wouldn't it be cheaper to just sell there and buy here?

^ I think it's several grand to ship a car from North America to Europe. I'm guessing it'll be around the same thing for NA to Hawaii. I guess it's sentimental value over anything.
Hell one day (if i have the cash) I would like to take my car overseas and do a bit of touring

yes it will cost a lot of money.
but again, its either the car was ACTUALLY bought in hawaii and was brought into BC by a container

or, the car was brought locally and the owner decides to insure the car under hawaii's insurance

for whatever the reason is, i dont know.
but i know people who insured their cars out of province, for "whatever the reason it is"

My car is insured in alberta yet I've been driving it everyday here for the last year. Unfortunatly I switched my license over for work and the insurance company doesn't seem to like that.

they can also be part of military, that way they get loaded onto ships landing in usa and drive across boarder no problem. Have friends that have done this. Car was loaded onboard carrier and landed in usa and came to visit me with hawaii plates.
