Jeez, that's some great reaction time you have there. A lesser driver would be in the shop or worse! People need to open their eyes at intersections.. they don't have the right of way and decide to turn extremely aggressively at that. As Gordon Ramsay would say:

I usually slow down and creep even on a green when I approach intersections like the one above because the person taking the left is basically blinded by the truck so he/she is taking a guess by making that turn.

And the turn above reminds me of the left turn on sw marine drive @ main st, it's one of the trickiest turns because you can't see the cars approaching the intersection when the turning lane across has cars and most cars on Marine are already speeding and usually go through late yellows.

If I'm unsure I always just wait till it's a yellow/red then go.

Plus it pisses the hell out of people behind you

if you want to just cut clips with simple edit, use Youtube's built in editor.

yeah that drivers was a new driver, got to be careful and stay out of blind spots. one too many times for me and the only person you can change is yourself, so I changed my driving habits, and became aware of blind spots of other drivers.

Isn't that a single lane? I thought you were not supposed to go around when someone is turning, dont think they were expecting someone to come around. I know people do it anyways all the time, but its always seems a sort of loophole.

From the BCMVA:
Passing on right
158 (1) The driver of a vehicle must not cause or permit the vehicle to overtake and pass on the right of another vehicle, except

(a) when the vehicle overtaken is making a left turn or its driver has signalled his or her intention to make a left turn,

(b) when on a laned roadway there is one or more than one unobstructed lane on the side of the roadway on which the driver is permitted to drive, or
(c) on a one way street or a highway on which traffic is restricted to one direction of movement, where the roadway is free from obstructions and is of sufficient width for 2 or more lanes of moving vehicles.

+1, this is why i never accelerate thru an intersection if you can't see oncoming traffic and they can't see you.

Regardless if you should have going through the intersection slower (you did nothing wrong) you did a great job avoiding an accident and kept your cool.

Spoiler!

Try Marine Dr and Cambie. Two lanes of left turners on opposing traffic. Cant see shit. I always have to wait for the yellow then slowly creep through

Yesterday someone ran into the fence on No. 3 Rd.

And today on 49th someone raced up the right lane to cut to the front of the left lane to turn left...
