Not to start shit or be an ass...but I'm pretty sure all solid yellow means is "no passing". You are allowed to cross if turning into a driveway (and if it is safe, obviously). Only thing you can't cross is a solid white. Or an island...but that was made evident by that Civic posted earlier =D.

Edit: So I actually went to ICBC's website and looked it up. Seems none of us really know what lines mean lol. The only traffic indicators for "no crossing" are painted islands, and real islands. All solid means is "no passing"; that goes for both white and yellow. All white means is same direction, and yellow means opposite direction. No lies: http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing...d/drivers3.pdf

In my defense, I live in Richmond. If we actually see any real snow I'll take out the SUV.

Single solid yellow, or broken yellow on your side= passing allowed when safe
Double solid yellow = no passing

As for turning over a double solid yellow:
"Turns in the middle of a block
Most drivers expect other vehicles to turn at an intersection.
Sometimes you might want to turn left in the middle of a block
— for example, into a driveway. You may turn left — including
turning left over a solid double yellow line — if you do this
carefully and safely and don’t impede other traffi c, and there
are no signs prohibiting such turns."

People often forget the "doesn't impede traffic" part.

The problem is I don't think you'll ever get pulled over for this, unless you're being a complete ass and holding up a single lane for like 3 minutes. There are a lot of driveways where if you didn't take the left across a double yellow, it will take so much longer to get to the place. I get it, individual vs. group utility, but maybe I need to poo.

It seemed as if she was turning wide. I honked to warn her to not turn wide.

The two lanes merge immediately there, most people tend to turn wide and drive in both lanes until it ends.

On a side note, at least the bus being so huge and so far into the lane, it hit the sensors for you.

it probably was a honest mistake and no one was injured in the process..the driver was probably a rookie. Why put his job at risk.
