Nope they would both be seriously hurt or killed if the airbag went off.

I would imagine that that behavior could fall under the "driving while distracted" area. I believe that is how legislation is able to blanket the whole issue instead of calling it driving while cell phoning/texting/eating/etc. Having her dog jump around in the front seat area while driving is just stupid and irresponsible for her, her dog and everyone around her.

I hate people who do that. My mom and my GFs mom both do it and neither of them are good drivers to begin with. They both have yappy ankle biters that bark at everything the entire time they're driving, too.

xSupaD makes the local news again :

Dashcam videos paint ugly picture of Metro Vancouver driving | News1130

METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – How often do you see other drivers pulling stupid moves on your commute?
Someone has been capturing prime examples of poor driving leading to crashes in Metro Vancouver and posting the video online — and it certainly does not paint a flattering picture of “Left Coast” drivers.
YouTube user “xSupaD” has been compiling video captured by dashcams for about a year now and some of the “best of” have been put together and are making the rounds online.
It’s shocking, depressing (and dare we say even a little funny at times when it involves parkades, cement posts and poor parking skills) and the videos are certainly generating a lot of comments.
Some blame left-turners, others blame red-light-runners, and one international driver calls Canada the worst place to drive in North America and Europe, with Vancouver the worst of the worst.
Check out the videos and judge for yourself:

Good, maybe one day people will start using their brain when driving. (Wishful thinking I know.)

Vancitybuzz posted it last night. Looks like news1130 pretty much just crossposted it.

Supa is probably getting interview requests again.

Yeah being loaded with interview requests again.

CBC wants to do a tv interview for CBC TV tonight.
I told them I'm not comfortable with showing my face, so maybe it'll be a phone interview or something instead. I'll see how it goes.

Outside of Richmond, Greater Toronto is way worse than anything Greater Vancouver has to offer in terms of poor driving ... And the people I know who have been to/lived in Montreal say Montreal is even worse than Toronto.

Congrats on getting your dash cam vids some much needed exposure. What would they talk about in the interview though? Why you filmed it? Your opinion on the matter? I dunno, media has it's way of twisting stuff around so I would proceed with caution.

How can driving with a dog in your lap be legal?

I see people that do it and normally I just think its stupid and don't think too much more of it, but today I saw a lady with a large terrier jumping from passenger side to drivers side a bunch of times. When he was going in front of her I bet she couldn't see a thing. Futhur to that how can you properly steer with a dog in your fucking way?

If it's a small dog okay w/e (not that it should make a difference, it should be illegal accross the board), but how can you even justify giving someone texting a ticket yet having an animal climbing all over you is legal???

EDIT: or maybe its not legal and these people are just that retarded. In which case I think we should hear more of those advertisements on the radio rather than the distracted driving ones that get played back every five minutes.
Couldn't agree more.
My dad got sideswiped because he was changing lanes and the guy in the right lane kept accelerating cuz he was playing with his dog in the front seat.
Needless to say, he claimed my dad hit him and it was 50/50.

It's amazing how drivers think it's perfectly safe.

At time 1:18 of Greater Vancouver Car Crash Compilation 3 (3rd clip), we see the driver travelling along Granville St Northbound, and right as the driver approaches W 59th, a white car pulls from the right, into the driver's lane. In order to avoid the accident, the driver swerves left, but ends up being clipped by a blue car on the far left lane.

In this kind of scenario, would the driver be at fault too (since he swerved to avoid the white car, which ended up having him in the most left lane)?

Would it better to swerve or just slam on the brakes and hit the car?

The dashcam driver is at fault for the accident. In cases like that its often better to just hit the car who pulled out in front of you instead of trying to avoid and hitting someone else.
