ok if you got caught at 61kmh, i would find the cop just being a dick. but then, everyone takes the risk of a ticket if you were even going at 51kmh.

Oh i completely understand. I hate to say it but there was a truck who was flying up behind me, but shiny blue Mustang or old green f250, which will get the ticket? Not complaining, I was speeding, i "deserved" the ticket, just noting facts.

Just wish i could pay the damn thing online LOL

Unfortunately i guess even a lowly V6 Automatic Mustang has some element of cop magnet. I suppose there's a reason Race Red (bright candy red on the mustangs) is
(un) affectionately known as Arrest-Me-Red in the Mustang world LOL.

Couldn't imagine how heat score a loud V8 Mustang in red/blue with the traditional white stripes must be haha.

Mmmm nice to know they found a new location to shoot radar..
They also like to sit INSIDE the new Fortis parking lot and 1 or 2 guys stand out on the street and shoot radar.

(To be fair, before your radar even went off I could see them in the distance.. Radar isn't completely useless in the city, it's just useless if you are 100% dependent on it and still don't watch for cops. )

Province announces tougher penalties for distracted driving | News1130

I predict accidents will go up due to people concentrating even harder to conceal their texting or phone usage while driving. I guess it makes for even more content for this thread

It's track day time on Kingsway! Notice the victorious fist pump upon arrival. Caddy driver is clearly eager to repeat the experience, and so he false-starts on red light twice, then they both zoom away. Turn signals be damned!

Unless you know how a radar/laser detectors work and I mean beyond the instruction manual, you shouldn't be using one. I get so tired of hearing AW WTF THEY DONT WORK, WASTE OF MONEY.

I think he means, if you don't understand that a radar detector isn't a license to speed without penalty, you should stick to not speeding, and not using a radar detector.

You have to understand that if everyone else is going 110 in a 100, and you pass a line of cars at 140+ the cop doesn't have to radar you to know you were speeding. So the radar detector didn't do shit for you.

By the same logic, there are many ways aside from radar to get caught for speeding, pacing being the most common.

Also if you get nailed with Lidar your fucked either way.

Bottom line, he's right, if you buy a detector without understanding the basics of how police operate or what your unit is telling you, then your gonna get hammered anyway, so you wasted your money.

This^^^^^

I've installed these for some guys and you'd be surprised at the stupidity of some people..

Guy will speed past a cop that he clearly saw earlier over the speed limit, and will then call to tell me the system installed doesn't work because his laser jammer didn't jam the officers radar unit (???????) and that now the officer has ripped his jammer out or issued a box 3 VI

You can say that radar detectors = detect radar waves, but to get full efficiency from your unit you should know HOW that works, how radar waves travel, effective range of both radar and laser, what your radar detector "sees", how laser detection works, what the laser gun sees and how a jammer counteracts that etc etc

Its all bit geek but it does work..

ICBC would find the person turning left to be at fault due to a failure to yield.
