A reply from one of my viewers that I wanted to discuss:
"2:04 is it onto a one way? I believe (like Washington and Oregon) that is a legal maneuver in BC (regardless of signal type (circle or arrow), number of lanes, or whether or not the road that you are on is one- or two-way."

He has a valid point. Since we are turning onto an on-ramp, it is technically "one-way." Does this mean we are allowed to go through the red light? The law in BC states that we are allowed to turn left on a red light if we're turning onto a one-way street.

Thoughts?

to those who drive with their lights completely off in the rain in the dark, turn your lights on! Does not matter if its 2pm in the afternoon.

but

you can turn left if it is clear of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians apparently.

Spoiler!

Good point. Thought of that after. Still a lightweight smart car with such short wheelbase is prone to lose control easier at higher speeds

What, like you've never heard of the rick of hydroplaning before. Honestly now.

This is the important bit, if you're turning onto a one-way street you can make a left on a red light, which makes sense.

When you think about it, why not? If you're at a red nobody is going to be coming the other way.

This has been discussed before. On a red, you can turn left onto a one-way regardless of whether you are on a one-way or two-way as long as the intersection is clear and you come to a complete stop first.

All in 30 minutes.

the fourth one was partially my fault for putting myself in his blind spot, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he didn't check. The rest of them.... -___-

So if you get pulled over by the cop for making the left onto a oneway street/hwy onramp, you just have to quote MVA, Section 129, paragraph 4b?

So there was a jam on Hwy91 EB this morning. The video is short, not that great but you'll see on the left a brown CRV, which looks like it either did a 180, or was going the wrong way to collide with the white car.

the first one you can kinda see from a mile away. what happens when theres a huge lineup on the left lane and your lane is clear for cruising? some asshole who can judge distance will usually pull out. ive spent way too much time on the road, i would be covering my brakes in that situation the whole way through... its way too common.

It doesn't, but defensive driving takes into account the tendencies of other drivers, regardless of legality.

I did have my foot hovering over the brakes, had I not, I would've hit her for sure. If you look closely, she started pulling out when I was less than 1 car length away.
