Driver from bimmerpost is apparently experienced with motorsports, nevertheless here's his explanation of this incident.

I mentioned earlier that I had incorrect PSI - let me explain. My PSI was low, so I inflated it a bit with a pump with an analog tire guage which of course is very imprecise compared to a digital gauge. I noticed that my right tire pressure was 1.5psi off of my left when viewing the PSI from the BMW onboard digital gauge (you can only do this while driving). However, as my car had been pulling to the right from day 1 of delivery (there's a big thread of many complaining about that on these forums). Miraculously, the car drifted to the right to a lesser extent with the right tire PSI being slightly higher than the left and so I was playing around with the idea of keeping it that way for a short time- however I knew that I needed to put the PSI equally across both tires but I just failed to do that before going to the meet. I have no idea if unequal PSI left to right contributed to the right rear spinning so differently than the left.
Spoiler!

Wow that kind of impact and air must have caused some damage to the suspension or undercarriage.

I like how the dude justifies it partially with the fact that he waited to floor it until after the crowd of people. Like he somehow did them all a favour.

Think about how many idiots on the road there are who don't know how to check tire pressure and only get it done when taking their car to the dealer. According to this guy's logic, all of them would be pretty much dead right now as I'm sure their TP variance is more than "1.5 psi" which is miniscule.

No offense, but it just seems to me that driver error - and ego - was to blame here.

He said that the TCS was disengaged fully, Which on the M model cars means absolutely no Dynamic traction control or automatic stability control.

I watched a kid do this in a newer looking Subaru legacy (probably his parents car)

It was right by the river float in Penticton he TRIED drifting the corner (for whatever reason) probably to impress of all the scantily clad girls inflating their tubes.
anyways he failed miserably swerved side to side and smoked a curb dead on, he scrambled then drove away as fast as he could (he definitely couldn't have made it very far) we found a HUGE chunk of his rim and a bunch of plastic. He was really lucky though he missed a lightpost by a few inches!

my friend kept the chunk of rim for the rest of our road trip lol

u can see clearly see full suspension travel upon landing and the undercarriage kissing the pavement, most likely frame has been bent?

You guys are all wrong.

What happened was the planets all momentarily aligned and reduced earth's gravity, thus reducing grip and causing him to crash:

^ LOL

Yeah in the clearer video he doesn't really counter steer at all, so theres almost no chance of recovery. next time he should just leave the traction control on.

Fucking BS with the PSI shit he's trying to deal. Poor car.
