the passenger in the EL was well in his 60s. He was quite hurt inside the car.

Injuries are one thing, but the whole point of the L-class 5 system is that you have someone who can teach you how to drive properly and safely.

Blindly turning left is far from that; that intersection is notorious because there are ALWAYS people turning left from both directions. Should've instructed the Learner to wait.

...also you said passengers were fine lol.

Just 30 mins ago, a lifted white 4x4 Pick up with bright fog lights was tail gating me and then decides to drive on the oncoming lane for 6 seconds. This happened along 49th and Elliott St. The person then went South on Victoria St. Unfortunately I couldn't get the license plate.

Why do you need to get the license plate? What he did might not be safe but it's legal. 49th avenue is a single solid yellow line which means it is ok to pass with super extra caution

Taken from page 38 of the BC driver's handbook

That's a rather self conflicting post..

Ya I should have edited to "with extra caution" but was too lazy to do so because I already spent so much time on that post

Although true, passing is only allowed as long as no other MVA rules are violated, including speeding, it is unlikely that the truck was traveling less than 50 km/h from that description.

(okay let's be real no one goes 50, so let's say 60, still probably unlikely)

Spoiler!

From what's been mentioned in other threads this is technically legal. One may drive through a red light of a pedestrian controlled traffic light if there are no adjoining roadways at the light and no pedestrians are present.

The intersecting road on the right is like 50-100' before the light so that doesn't count. And I can't honestly tell if there's an intersecting road on the oncoming side but I'm assuming there isn't by the lay out of the light/crosswalk.

It's 100% pedestrian controlled.

This is true, however, I believe you still must come to a complete stop before proceeding. You have to treat it like a stop sign.

Also I think it's an intersection there for one of the mall's parking lots.

That's right here.

It's not 100% pedestrian controlled, it's a 3-way intersection with lights on both directions.
