I do that stretch a few times a week, and it is annoying as hell.

I suggest you stay very close to the **right edge of the lane, as it's harder for assholes to pull exactly that. Fuckers.

Good job keeping plenty of space in front. If someone decides to be a selfish asshole, at least they don't cause brake check dominos behind them, which is one of the things that create traffic jams. It's a slim chance you can educate someone by denying them a merge, but you can definitely help minimize the damage from their actions.

If you guys don't want to get cut off, then be closer to the car in front of you. You're going 5. You're not going to rear end him if you're not shitty at driving.

You left a car length. That's enough room for anyone with a foot to merge into.

Yes, he's being a douche but you gave him the opportunity.

A bit off topic. I got a dr650gw-2 and recently updated to the newest firmwar that have higher bitrate recording and I think my Sandisk ultra is not fast enough to as it keeps rebooting now. Just wondering what sdxc cards are you guys using? I'm looking to get a Lexar 64gb 633x looking for inputs. Thanks.

Can only agree that you left too much space.
This happens on that stretch and on the other side for Stewardson heading onto QB.
If you leave more than 1/2 a car length, expect to get cut off once you near the end point, see it daily on my morning commute.

i learn about hugging the line from people in my office that ride motorcycles . i use that technique in my car to prevent asshats trying to divebomb in or cut me off in rush hour traffic approaching knight st. that being said i usually let people in if they signal and traffic isn't flowing...unless you're a semi trying to get in to the left lane then f-off

It's usually quite easy to tell if the person trying to cut in is doing so because s/he was oblivious to that happening, of it's some fuck who thinks he's clever. The speed they approach at, what the driver is actually doing, etc.

I'll generally let the former in, and do everything I can to fuck over the latter.

Was the rider alright? It's hard to tell from your angle, but was the SUV too far into the lane or did the bike run a light?

Both cars had a GREEN light. The SUV turning is 100% at fault.

The driver claims that the sun blinded her and she didn't see the oncoming car/bike. The biker was conscious when I got there, but was in obvious pain. I stayed around until the Police and ambulance arrived and gave an officer my statement. The biker was still lying on the ground being treated by paramedics when I left.

Good to see that a lot of people ran out of their cars to help. I cut the video short but quite a few people came over after. Three witnesses total (including me) stayed behind for the Police.
I don't fully buy the "sun in my eye" argument though, since she almost went for it and hit the Black SUV that crossed in the furthest lane from her. It's abit hard to miss the Black SUV, even with the Sun in your eye.

Also note the delay from when the beige car turned and when she entered the intersection. Distracted driving?

I was thinking the same thing, but maybe she was in shock? I can't say my brain would process things fast enough to immediately get out of the car after watching someone go over my hood and knowing it was my fault that they could possibly be dead. I think my brain would get major lag.

Ditto. Also when the sun is in my eye I drive more defensively. Left turns like that I wait till the yellow or sit up all the way in my seat (almost standing) so the sun is no longer a concern.

Good on you to rush out to check the rider. Driver needs to gtfo the road. Can't see because of sun? Better turn left anyways.
