I prefer the Alberta plates. It helps you spot the dangerous drivers far easier.

Cockfucker in a new Tundra almost smoked me yesterday after blowing a red while I had the advanced turning light.

I thought "whew, I dodged that one!" and went home.

25 minutes later my daughter runs into the house and says "dad, a big yellow truck just hit yours..."

I'll see if I have the time later to put a little video together.

Cyclists usually bike in the lane closest to the sidewalk in the direction they travel. It doesn't matter if they don't have a marked bike lane as it's a "share the road" thing in Vancouver. Driver getting out would be wrong for sure as it's a best practice to mirror and shoulder check before getting out as per page 28 on the driver's manual:

I think technically no, but it depends on their insurance company. I always get the "excess underinsured motorist protection" for $25/year since I see a lot of Albertan vehicles with expired insurance and a lot that never leave BC. I've never insured a car in Alberta but I assume they ask where the vehicle is stored when not in use, I doubt most people have properly updated that with their insurance company.

edit: after some searching, it appears they have to register it in BC if its been in BC for more than 30 days except for the purposes of "touring" (ie going on vacation). Students are an exception as well. That's the BC law, but since Alberta has private insurance I'd wager a lot of insurance companies would say you voided your insurance if you tried to make a claim.

Poor decision by the other driver to turn without making sure BOTH the right lane and left lane was clear before proceeding with the maneuver. The white SUV turning right from the right lane was clearly obstructing the Subaru's view of my car. Driver acknowledged the fact that they should not have went because they said "I didn't see ya coming". I had a flashing green, the Subaru has a combination of flashing red and a stop sign.

Looking back, I could have avoided it by swerving left since it was relatively clear but this was my first accident in 8 years of driving so perhaps my instinct told me not go into oncoming traffic.

Damage was minor and no injuries on either side.

FUCK

Now I got a fucking gouge in my bumper, and my passenger door inside edge rubs on the right fender

If you managed to avoid this idiot but hit that sign post or caused an accident by crossing over, you'd be at fault and they'd get off scot free.

No video but almost watch some old C lai make a wide turn into the motorcyclist's lane, almost creamed him. Wide turns everywhere.

One of my colleagues.. I swear, there area multiple occasions where I could've been dead.

ie. Yesterday he was doing a reverse parking, didn't shoulder check and completely relied on his back up cam. I had to warn him or else I would've been hit.

Should get him to apply for Canada's Worse Driver show.

Before I get roasted, below is what happened:

Quote:
Honestly, caught me by surprise. I had a feeling that something like that would happen. But after splitting off into our our separate (and individual, denoted by solid white line) lanes, I thought I could relax - I guess not.

Although it seems like it was really obvious that he would come in, the wide camera lens gives a wider angle than what I was looking at - the bend. There were also no cars behind me, so he could have just stopped and then changed over.

Usually, at least with my claim, you have to call the guy's direct number, if he left you with one. The phone number that shows up on your caller ID is the general icbc number.

When pricks till this day do not know how to use a bloody roundabout. Or read yield signs for that matter.

Watch at 0:18 as the blue Civic comes flying into the roundabout without as much as a glance over to the left to look for oncoming traffic.

When I honked, the driver, who couldn't have been older than 17 or 18, had a genuine look of shock on his face. He had another four passengers as well, no N on the back. Probably took it off to carry his high school buddies

Around 5 minutes later, I saw him in my rearview (and heard a honk from another car), completely cut off another car without signalling.

Fucking kids these days.

Also noticed how terrible my dash cam quality is. Don't know if the quality has deteriorated or if it's always been this bad time for a new one.
