Laksa

Anywhere has a good laksa?

Tried cafe delite, hawkers delite, and prataman. All subpar. I tried deer garden laksa soup and base was OK, but again not true laksa.

The closes I had was one of my friends mothers.

My gf loves laksa. We went to Tamarind Hill in New West a couple of times, OK food, shitty service. Also tried Bo Laksa King on Hastings street, which was also OK.

The one she likes the most is from Aberdeen Mall's food court. That Chinese place that also sells Hainese chicken, next door to the Korean food vendor. That place also has a not bad curry beef, but they aren't exactly generous with the meat. Laksa is big enough, though.

bo laksa king, however, i think their other dishes are great and the laksa kind of gets overshadowed. dont try to go during a busy time... you'll be waiting for sure.

What he said.

Bo Laksa King. Best I've had thus far, hands down.

I got their cold milk tea, but it tasted kind of flowery and a touch of sourness to it. It was very rich. I'm not sure what was in it, but it didn't appeal to me. Definitely not the same as HK milk tea.

I've yet to try Bo Laksa King, will definitely try!

Best I've had so far is home-cooked

that's cafe delite. Not really true laksa. True laksa has like 5+6 toppings in it.

Same.

For a picky eater like skyxx, he recommends Seri Malaysia, on the west side of Nanaimo and Hastings.

I've been told there's a Malaysian restaurant that serves a mean laksa in Steveston, beside that BBQ place (whatever it's called.)

The only Malaysian place I know of in Steveston is Kari House..?

There's one I found online in Surrey called Malaysian Hut, never been yet though.

Yes, it's Kari House. Not sure how authentic it is, but I found it quite tasty, I had it last week

My Malaysian friend said it was pretty authentic, just like in Malaysia & Singapore.

Tropika on Broadway had good laksa. Don't know or care whether it was authentic, but it is good. Lots of ingredients, tasty broth, etc. At least it was when I last tried it 5 or 6 years ago

Might be the Prima laksa mix which is what my dad brings back from Singapore regularly for my mom to cook laksa with. Kind of hard to find here, Asia Market has it I think but in a smaller size than what you can get in Singapore, and quite pricey.

Best laksa I've had is homemade.

Can I trade you a ramen night for a laksa night?

But I'm sure my soup won't have the same pedigree as your mom's though.

Tamarind hill in N.Van. Girlfriend works there, both of them are owned by her uncle.

I can't judge on their service cause I usually go when she is working but I love their food.
