Its the season again!!!

Anyone got suggestions on different ways to cook these crabs?

I'm tired of the traditional steaming and I still got a lot more crabs left.

When I read the title of the thread, my mind kinda wandered...heh

A lot of places just serve it raw with a soy-based dipping sauce. Try that if you're brave.

I prefer dungeoness.

Hairy crabs don't have much meat. Work/Reward ratio is low lol. Most people just go after the claws and innards it seems.

That's exactly how I would describe red rock crabs. Thanks for the reply.

All depends on how appreciative the girl with the hairy crab is.

I had my "yellow oil crabs" made steamed with egg and "fa diao" liquor last month at a restaurant. Not sure if that'll work with the hairy crabs.

The essence of hair crabs lies in not the meat but the roe.

The male hairy crabs have softer more intense roe while the females have the harder roe.

Unlike Alaskan king crabs, they make dishes like crab roe siu lung bao. Extremely yummy.

hairy crab roe - Google Search

Haha true, I forgot about the roe. But I did say innards lol!

I had the roe xlb and it was good, but still prefer the traditional pork ones.
