Midnight Rally

Okay, so we thought that maybe another paved, challenging, novice rally would be in order for the South Island. So, this year we again bring you the Midnight Rally! IRC has pulled out the stops, and Gil & Bart have put together a really cool tarmac event, and yes after much discussion with the Island rally community, we are going back to Renfrew! Everyone had such a blast running those really fun and until recently, only gravel roads out to the west coast.

Okay, my first line said "novice", but this will be fun for EVERY level of competitor! Face it the reason we're doing it in December is to have Mother Nature throw in a whole bunch of "what ifs" and "unknowns". We've listen to everyone form last year, and changed the format a wee bit, Bart's got rid of most of the in town stop & go regs. in favour of the longer, faster, more challenging stages! Check out all the info at islandrallysport.com

sounds pretty fun but it's pretty much the person willing to speed the most/fastest car is the winner since we're all in the same class?

Never done any rally events but I gots a soob now so I guess i should start

Thanks for the interest! No, it's not the fastest car wins. I'll say that up front, we rally, we don't race, unless it's a "closed road" performance rally. With Midnight it's the most "on time" that wins. Each team is scored over a series of hidden checkpoints and the team with the lowest score wins. Simple. Not so, it's really challenging, and fun with the speeds given, the night driving and the weather! Everyone has the same handicap, same route and chance to do well. I's quite a blast, even if you're running the speed limit, believe me you won't stop smiling, it's a rush! You will be hooked, so bring out the 240 and a buddy and come play.
