After doing Starting Strength and joining a barbell club my training has only been barbell compounds and chins.
sadly, as a result my upper body (bench, military press, and chins) are hella weak and squats and deads are hella strong (relative)
feel pretty embarrassed adding curls twice a week and switching my program to a split but i guess that's the only way to improve and look like sick cunt
i'm also reducing my squats to once a week. front squat just there to aid my olympic lifts

I have no clue how to build a good split in terms of variety and quantity of exercises. i also don't know what the most effective rep schemes are cuz i've been doing 3x5 and for my squats i do triples, doubles and singles whenever i feel like it

Just add an extra day of heavy pin press or floor press. I hit my chest basically 3x a week directly/indirectly. I have a arm day on which I close grip bench. Floor press on leg day. If I don't floorpress on leg day, I'll incline on shoulder day.


Bench is an aggravating lift you either excel at it or you don't .. oh and floor press is just like pin press ROM wise, but youre on the ground. Probably wouldn't go as heavy because you got no crash bars

post workout, after your protien shake.. what do you guys eat. more protien? carbs?

i've read post workout, the first thing you consume is whey protien, then simple carbs (not sure which or how much), followed by complex carbs (not sure how much) about an hour later.

also, when should i be eating my good fats (nuts)? i read you shouldn't eat them post workout as they slow digestion.. so when is a good time?

and finally, if i want to gain mass yet not put fat on, should i be taking a higher cal/higher carb shake ( http://www.popeyescanada.com/inf_nut..._isogainer.php ) rather than a pure whey protien shake ( http://www.kaizenprotein.com/nutrition.html )? currently i take the high protien/low carb kaizen whey protien along with a relativley low carb diet (only carbs i get are rice/veggies at dinner)


anyone who can help me with these questions would be greatly thanked!

never like this machine one bit but today i sat the other way on it and only used one hand at once, this is great its like close grip but it gets deeper well for me it does

been carb deficient since Saturday with the only veggies as my forms of carbs this week. Lifts are definitely down, struggling to get through this week but still managed only to get out 5 sets of 3x405 deadlifts, don't know whether to feel down that lifts are down or good that I still managed some decent working sets being carb deficient, I think the lack of carbs is making me moody like a girl lol.
