Treated myself to an arm day late last night. It reminded me why I don't train arms

LC your 1rm for deads is 4 plates right? what's your regular work set at? just curious to see how much you normally lift for reps, when you hit 4 plates for 1 rep , just to get an idea because i'm slowly getting close as well

I think once you can do 5x5 with 315lbs, then you should be able to 405 for 1.

damm the problem is i always do pretty low volume, about 3-4 warm up sets working up to 1 main heavy set, then increase that weight the following week, so far up to 335 x 7, heaviest 1rm attempted was 365 about 3 weeks ago

335 x 7 is good enough reason for you to test out 405..

It's been a good month and a half since I've deadlifted and I hit 405 today and got 425 a quarter of the way up (sticky point), and was only able to deadlift 315 for 7 or 8. If a guy with a fucked up knee can do it, I'm 100% sure you can... Even if you haven't been going high enough volume with deadlifts, if you've been squatting and rowing heavy on a regular basis you will see the transfer

That's weird PK, I always did low volume last year. And I could probably do 315 for 5 reps tops. And my PR was 355 (just chalk). Maybe it's a mental thing? Get a friend to slap you in the face - attempting a new PR on a deadlift or bench is always a slight fear of mine. Bench - I'd have to slide off the weights if I fail and Deadlift - form is insanely critical as you know already.

Are you using chalk for your PR?

On a side note, after a wicked session, overate when I should be on a deficit

You get it in bulk or something?

Why not just go to MEC and buy chalk/chalk bag?

yea i use chalk everytime i deadlift, 365 was a few weeks ago but i didn't attempt anything heavier afterwards. I'm testing my 1rm again in about 3 weeks, my original goal was 385, but might go higher if im feeling up to it, the last time i tried going too heavy was on rackpulls around a year ago and i fucked up my back with 300lbs, got it up around 3 inches then i felt a "ripping/pulling" on my back so i dropped it, couldnt even unload the weights after, it took a few weeks to recover, ever since then i've been staying safe with the fear of another injury in my head

It took me a LONG time to overcome all of my fears after my last injury. I would go at a comfortable pace if I were you. Having said this, I do think that if you can hit 365 x 3, 405 should be able to come up easy. Good luck!

No offense, but those who are obsessed with doing squats or their legs are just as bad as those who are obsessed with their arms and barbell curls. Heard this quote from somewhere.
