I went to Araxi a couple months ago and they had a really good deal for their 31 year anniversary. It was $31 for a...5 course meal? or something like that. I am not sure if they still have it but thought the value was good. I don't think the food was amazing though, but for the price of $31 I really couldn't complain.

Oh, they also have a $10 for a dozen oysters special in ther afternoon. Ended up getting 4 dozen for 2 people

Apparently they are the same group as Bluewater Cafe, Cin Cin and West? I walked by and saw the sign.

21 Steps is not bad. The mussels remind me of Biercraft. Nothing fancy but haven't tried their big plates so I can say much. Had a snack there yesterday after Splitz Grill lol.

The wine list is light years better at Bearfoot if you are into higher end wines. If you plan to spend $100 or less on wine then you could argue Araxi has the better list.

I personally like the food better at Barefoot (they have a few different menus, set menus etc), but not by much. As for service, like most Whistler restaurants it can be inconsistent as they have to hire ski bums - however if you get a career server the service can be top notch.

Yea, I love fine dining, but have yet to develop an appreciation for fine wine (or wine in general).

Here are some photos of our dinner from Araxi. This was from our last trip up there (2 years ago) but still soo memorable.


Spot Prawns sashimi with deep fried head, crab roll egg crepe over gazpacho, and beach angels oysters

Araxi is not bad. The menu and the food is very similar to Bluewater Cafe in Yaletown.

1/2 dozen Kusshi - shucked very well, every piece looked and tasted good. 9/10
Beef tartare - standard beef tartare. 7/10
Tuna tataki - nicely done, I liked the caviar/fish roe thing with the tuna. 8/10
Halibut - a little dry, but they didn't screw up. 8/10
Mushrooms on the side - nice selection and generous portion. Could have used much less butter. 7/10

Overall, I think Araxi is just another Bluewater Cafe. So the food is quite good. Service was also very good. No comment on wine because we don't drink wine. :P
