i know the article dates back to april 2010 but i'm sure unmanned aerial photography must've been explored prior to this, no? obvs exluding military uses.

There are a lot of these types of RC machines now. I can't remember the site off hand but there is a whole site directed to POV RCing.

Guys even put on VR goggles and have motion tracking for their heads so they can look around and the camera will follow where their head looks. Pretty badass.

I think it was Chase Jarvis who used an RC helicopter for a lot of his scenes in the Nikon D7000 promo movie.
