Stop the Squeeze

Quote:
A grassroots group has launched an online petition urging Canadians to speak out against domination of the cell phone market by the country's big three wireless companies – Rogers Communications Inc., BCE Inc. and Telus Corp.

"We're calling for a level playing field," Steve Anderson, executive director of OpenMedia.ca told CBC News in a phone interview.

"Canadians don't want the big three to knock out the independents and have a stranglehold over the future of our communication. They want choice and affordability."

More than 30,000 people have signed the Stop the Cellphone Squeeze petition since it was launched this week.
Petition aims to end cellphone monopoly - Technology & Science - CBC News

Basically, its a petition to the government to set aside wireless spectrum for new entrants so that they at least have a chance at succeeding in Canada. Otherwise its obvious the Big3 will be able to push the new entrants out of the market with their 94% market share.
(not promoting or selling anything here, just sign the petition if you feel it's right)

Signed. More competition will usually benefit us consumers so its a good thing imo.

I have a feeling this wil be as effective as those "don't buy gas from Esso on Friday" threads that pop up every year.

more government intervention is NOT going to get you a better deal.

The reason Canada has less competition is because of regulations against foreign investment in Telecom
