Manzo on Garden City!

Their Duck Breast sushi is amazing!

They usually have a sushi platter that has the Duck Breast with a few other ones.

Edit:

Here's an old picture from my gf

I find manzo on garden city lacks a lot of quality....much better places within a 4 block radius.

yeah no kidding. Most people here have different styles tasting when it comes to sushi/japanese food...mainly because we've been suffocated with shitty sushi joints run by money makers instead of people that want to dish out quality food.

I like to visit a really small place called Shima-Ya on Victoria just north of E41st. Its ran by an elderly Japanese couple and its not by any stretch of imagination "up scale", but their stuff is always fresh.

One of the best Nigiri in town.

Also try Octopus Garden (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/18129...rden-Vancouver), Kishimoto Japanese kitchen (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/15999...chen-Vancouver), Nakamura (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/16031...mura-Vancouver), and Tokyo Thyme (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/15341...hyme-Vancouver).

on this same token, i'm going to suggest
"sushi paradise" again.....not "upscale" by any means, but one of the best quality sushi place that i know.
the owner/chef use to be the chef at octopus garden, and he uses the same fresh ingredients and offers great tasting sushi at a reasonable price.

SUSHI PARADISE | One of the best sushi take-out place in New westminster!

Has anyone tried Kai on oak and 15th? It looks nice, but I haven't been in yet. I don't go out for sushi all that often anymore since I don't know the city all that well, and have been to some pretty buck nasty places with the occasional decent place amidst the shit. I live close to it so it would be a nice little hangout.

I tried it when it first opened like maybe 4 years ago? At the time it was like a lot of those little one off places that are owned and operated by a Japanese couple which is a good thing of course. Small menu but the fish was fresh and of good quality. Not sure how it is now but judging by ratings from various sites they seem to have been holding up their standards which is no surprise.

miku is a little inconsistent imo, also only their aburi is good.

sushi hachi for sashimi hands down, i don't like their rolls

toshi's overall best bang for buck, but the long lines are killer for me

i frequest AJISAI in kerrisdale. overall i think it's one of the better ones.

i miss good old sushi/sashimi joints! damn izakayas are taking over

Haven't tried it but their menu selection looks pretty good. Was planning to try them out last week

They seem to have daily Groupons under the "Now! deals" everyday in limited quantities ($10 for $20 worth of food).

I tried Kai, their sushi tasted fresh and was pretty good but not the best I had.

+1 for Shima-Ya. Shiro on cambie is quite good. Simple and authentic. I don't know about you guys but I'm a traditional sushi fan. Not quite into the fancy new stuff like what they have at ebisu etc.

Preference goes to traditional sushi.

I will easily pass on modern twists.
