I hear the press event for SimCity 5 was hilarious. The media sat and groaned as they got the bait and switch. Instead of a SimCity demo, they were fed all kinds of charity shit from the Inconvenient Truth people and charity:water. Pretty funny. Twitter was buzzing about how bullshit it was.

yeah the livestreamed GDC event was like 2 minutes of "hey guys, new simcity... CURVED ROADS" now let's talk about charities...

The one I posted above though... that's the "under the engine" look so it was all about the game and none of that other bs

I have both Cities XL 2011 and 2012 ... Can't say I've been impressed by either of them. I logged 108 hours on CXL 2011 ... and 2 hours on CXL 2012 ...

Just to provide a comparison with other city/empire building games:

Tropico 3 - 153 hours
Tropico 4 - 152 hours
Civilization V - 864 hours

It's just SOOOO hard to get into Cities XL ... Like, it doesn't feel like fun at all nor does it give you a sense of accomplishment ... It just feels like work ...

I remember my first sim city game.. for the SNES!!! it was a blast... simple and fun..

I didnt like Cities XL.. the buildings when you lay them out, doesnt always line up with the road, its always has a tiny bit of an angle and you cant be close to it otherwise you have all these roads connected to the main road.. arg...

HOLY CRAP lol

Is the game that good? I've never tried to Civ series before. Looks so complicated.

I don't think I've even logged that many hours for all my video games combined. lol

It's excellent ... It seems like a lot, but any hardcore Civ player will tell you hours goes by like that *snaps fingers*

Plus a lot of that comes from Civ LAN parties. Usually a couple times a year, my friends and I get together and pull an all-nighter, so that's like 60 hours right there. And, of course, I usually log a ton of hours prior to the LANs to get prepared :P

You've spent 36 days in Civ V.

Sadly, that doesn't even come close to most people's World of Warcraft /played...

the small city sizes are turning me off... it looks like they are focusing too much on the resource aspect of things and leaving out another key point of Simcity - Traffic management... or rather I hope they didn't skip out and just havent showed us yet.
