Garage Door Opener Recommendations

Hey Guys,

My 13 year old garage door opener crapped out on me today. The door won't open because the plastic gear is stripped to the bone... Only parts available are in the states. And it $50-$60 for the part..

Anyone have recommendations for garage door openers? Or shops in town?

I hear chains are not as efficient as a belt or screw driven openers

Any particular brands to look into or avoid?

Would like to stay under $200.

Thanks

I got a Liftmaster 3800 jackshaft opener not long ago. It's seriously quiet. No chains or belts. It also has an automatic deadbolt that locks the door to the channel. Check it out. It's a little more than your budget. I had to pay almost 300 from the states. I have no idea how much it is in Canada.

Thanks! That looks pretty sturdy and quiet!

We ended up getting the unit replaced with some basic lift master chain driven unit. $180 for the unit and $120 for the install.

Installer was great, booked him on Friday morning to arrive in the afternoon. Had it installed in less then a hour.
