Vancouver’s 10 Best Stoner Foods – 4:20 Edition

Well this does deserve to be posted in here :fuckyea:

Vancouver’s 10 Best Stoner Foods – 4:20 Edition

Quote:

Inspired by the Eater’s take on New York City’s best stoner food, I thought it only natural that Vancouver, being the premier stoner and food city in the world! weigh-in with a definitve list of its own. So, fire up the bong, plug in the vapourizer, spark that spliff; happy 420, yo! It’s time to get high and hungry!

10) Wake and bake dimsum at Li Garden – $15-$20
Dim sum is an institution in this town and Li Garden’s delicious dumplings, spicy deep fried squid, black bean spareribs are the greatest hits of high-powered Cantonese candy for the late morning pot head.

5822 Victoria Drive | Vancouver
Tel: 604- 325-0783

9) Second breakfast of biscuits with sausage, gravy & eggs at Deacon’s Corner - $13.25
If you don’t mind stuffing your maw beside cops, strippers, lawyers, tight-jeaned hipsters, and the odd surly trucker, Deacon’s Corner will gladly overwhelm your munchies with a heaping plate of greasy good breakfast that you won’t be able to finish and send you packing with a to-go box. And did I say gravy?

101 Main Street | (Gastown) Vancouver
Tel: (604) 684-1555
Deacon's Corner | Gastown Diner

8) Bison Cheesesteak at the Alibi Room – $13
Delicious bison meat from Two Rivers, cheese, sauteed onions, super doughy bun. I’ve eaten this dish over 30 times and it never gets old. The fact that this place has a craft beer list that makes me weep with joy every time I read it helps too.

157 Alexander Street | (Gastown) Vancouver
Tel: 604 623-3383
Alibi Room

7) G Money burger at Vera’s - $9.99
Double patty, cheese and fried mushrooms will satiate most, if not all of the hardcores, and probably shave a week off of your life, but who’s counting?

Vera's Burger Shack

6) Fatty pork miso ramen bowl at Kintaro - $8
Kintaro, a legendary ramen noodle house in the West End is the original and the best as far as I am concerned. The made-to-order fatty pork miso ramen is a giant bowl of stoner nirvana served up in the most authentic hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. No fancy wood here, just grungy and kick-ass.

788 Denman Street | Vancouver
Tel: 604-682-7568

5) Black pepper beef chow mein at Cafe Gloucester – $12
Right out of a Chiba-city pulp novel, this Hong Kong style restaurant serves both Chinese food and Hong Kong versions of Western food in a surreal hotel-like setting (the servers all wear what look like unionized maid outfits). Being a typical gwai-lo, I order the fried noodles. For stoners of the Chinese persuasion, I recommend the prime rib with all the fixin’s.

3338 Cambie Street | Vancouver
Tel: (604) 873-3338

4) Hogshack burnt ends – priceless*
Fatty end chunks of BBQ beef brisket slow cooked and caramelized to mouth-watering perfection. OMFG! *While this item is not on their regular menu, it can be had with a little fortitude. A simple phone call ahead along with some liberal begging should do the trick.

#160-3900 Bayview Street | Steveston
Tel: 604-272-7264
Steveston's first and ONLY BBQ and Casual Cookhouse!

3) St. Augustine’s Sicilian pizza ~ $14
Chef Dion Ouellet’s retooling of this popular craft beer house on the Drive is paying off in spades. The food has taken a quantum leap forward, taking the former stardard pub fare menu to a high level of awesomeness. READ: spicy capicolla, prosciutto, pancetta, roasted red peppers, provolone and parm = DROOL.

2360 Commercial Drive | Vancouver
Tel: 604-569-1911
St. Augustine’s | Craft Brew House and Kitchen, Vancouver, BC

2) Tacos at La Taqueria – 4 for $9.50
Two words: Al Pastor. Not sure who this Al Pastor guy is, but the tacos named after him are freakin’ delicious.(Al Pastor translation: “to the shepherd”) And being directly across from Marc Emery’s headquarters gets them super ganja bonus points.

322 W. Hastings Street | Vancouver
Tel: 604-568-4406
Lataqueria.ca

1) Pulled Pork Poutine at The Whip – $11
Stoner Jackpot! Imaculate Conception in the kitchen. Perfectly crisped French fries, chewy cheese curds, delicious savoury gravy and a steaming pile of braised pulled pork on top. Not recommended for sharing; each stoner must order their own.

209 E 6th Avenue | Vancouver
Tel: 604-874-4687
The Whip Restaurant & Gallery

What no love for Bon's Off Broadway?

vafanculo 04-15-2012 08:58 PM

No brados, either?

This list seems to be for the stoner who is seeking a somewhat dining experience

Mike Oxbig 04-15-2012 09:33 PM

bon's and brados is gross... so fat and oily

rJZx 04-15-2012 09:36 PM

Fritz is a good place to munch out on

unit 04-16-2012 08:06 AM

thing about bons, you wait like 30m for a seat, then like an hour for the food, just to save a couple bucks. also its the greasiest plate in the city. waiting is definitely not 4:20 friendly.
years back i had lots of memorable sketchy sundays there though .

Bons is overrated. The food is greasy as fuck and always gives me the shits. Plus, the orange juice costs just as much as the breakfast :fuckthatshit:

K.Dubz 04-16-2012 01:02 PM
