Film Photography!!!!

I recently started shooting with 35mm film. After doing some research, finally bought myself an Olympus OM-1. full frame for less than 100 bucks! You know that new OM-D. Well, OM-1 is the original the digital version is based off. You really have a different mindset shooting with film and theres just something about loading film that makes it so magical. Its like loading a gun or something. Anyways, lets see what film or equipment you are shooting with. Analog only!

I shoot a Nikon FE but only with fuji superia 400. Want to do Tmax, but I'm too lazy to set up a darkroom. I just develop my film at London drugs for $5 and scan the negatives with my DSLR. Problem with my FE is when it's too cold, the mirror locks up and the shutter doesn't fire. I would have to go to mechanical mode, cover the lens, rewind while pressing multi exposure and then shoot. :P

It gets addicting after a while, gonna try multiple exposures sometime soon.

Remember to double check your light seals before doing some serious shooting, they can be easily replaced.

You can get Kodak 400CN or Ilford XP2 which both come out black and white which you can develop at any regular photo development place. Pretty neat stuff.

I'm a Tri-X fan myself, but when you expose T-MAX correctly, it is beautiful.

I am shooting a fashion creative with the great Jana Vackova (Jana Vackova - portrait and wedding photography) on Monday, and one of the sets require old film cameras as props, so she requested that I bring all of my old film cameras along. This should be a fun shoot!

That little camera, which used to belong to my grandfather is a HIT camera, made in Japan after WWII. It used 17.5mm film.
17.5MM CAMERAS

Can you get film for it? Ever used it?

No, you need to cut your own roll from 35mm film. I've never used it to take photos, although it was used as a prop in a WedLuxe Magazine fashion shoot last week.

Just developed my roll of 400CN. Totally know what you mean that its too digital. Will try illford and tmax next.

Where does everyone get their film and developing? I've just gone to superstore because its the cheapest. and do you guys get the cd usually? or scan yourselves?

Btw. last month picked up Olympus Stylus Epic last month. Love how compact it is. Bring it with me everywhere.

I get my film developed at The Lab or Custom Color. Going to places like Superstore or Costco is cheaper, but they tend to over heat their chemicals for faster processing, which results in wonky colours.

I just got a Nikkormat FT and was wondering where I can get the battery for it locally? It uses a PX625 battery.

^ px625 are mercury batteries and will not be sold in any stores within North America except under the table. They still make px625 sized batteries but are akaline/silver oxide of which gives off 1.45 -5v. Your nikkormat requires 1.35 volts.

You can either buy it online of which are stock from few years ago or look for an adapter for px625 where you can use a regular Lr44. MR-9 Adapter. Replacement for PX625, PX13 or MR9 discontinued Mercury cells.

If you're not too serious, you can use zinc air 675 batteries which give off 1.4v, however you will need to modify the size of the battery by using cardboard/paper/aluminum foil to keep it in place. You will need to compensate by going a stop down (double check) and shoot. Beaware that this method might short out electronics but .5 volts shouldn't be too bad.
